Buried deep inside a very long Washington Post article about Barack Obama’s post-presidency is the revelation that his is supposedly writing his memoir during his month-long South Pacific retreat to French Polynesia. (hat tip: Caitlin Yilek)

    …he jetted off in a Gulfstream G550 to Tetiaroa, a South Pacific island once owned by Marlon Brando. He plans an extended stay there to start writing his White House memoir, according to a person familiar with his plans who asked for anonymity to discuss them.

I wondered what he was doing there - and with whom. No doubt, he really misses being with his loving and delightful wife.

... According to AFP, Obama is booked for a full month’s stay at The Brando, a privately owned, “eco-resort” for the rich and famous. One of the 35 private villas at the resort, which boast their own private, ocean-front freshwater pools and a collection of rare orchids, can run up to $13,000 per night. ...

So far, Obama appears to be alone at The Brando. His daughter Malia is doing a film internship in New York City, and his daughter Sasha is still in school in DC. Michelle Obama’s whereabouts are unknown, and it’s not clear any other members of his family will be joining the former president at the private enclave. ...
