White House Chief of Staff Reince Priebus said Sunday that President Donald Trump’s administration would seek support from moderate Democrats going forward in the ongoing efforts to repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.

“I think it's time for our folks to come together, and I also think it's time to potentially get a few moderate Democrats on board as well,” Priebus told anchor Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."

Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin is expected to be chosen as speaker of the House this week, after overcoming opposition from most members of the highly conservative Freedom Caucus. But Ryan apparently helped reassure those caucus member by agreeing to stand by the “Hastert rule,” under which the House would not vote on any legislation opposed by most Republican representatives, even if it would pass with Democratic support.

Since most measures to keep the government running or to raise the debt ceiling have passed only because a minority of Republicans voted with a majority of Democrats, would the House be more functional and democratic if that rule was ignored?

I am convinced by the the inactions and kabuki theater the GOP leadership has gone through these last 7 years of playing footsie with rhetoric while fully funding ObamaCare that Single Payer is as eagerly desired by the GOP as it is for the Marxist Left.  The GOP will love the power, money and control it gives the Beast over all people at Mordor on the Potomac.
