Near as I can tell people have some kind of fantasy that Putin is some great savior of Christianity and western civilization.

In reality Russia has a long history of trying to force Christianity to conform to state doctrine while brutalizing those Christians who didn't conform.  The Old Believers in this country are a devout Christian sect who fled Russian oppression. They're kind of like Amish with electric lights and vodka.

As far as their fight against terrorists is concerned its always what is convenient with them. In the muslim leaning states like Chechnya, Dagestan and Georgia they have no problem allowing terrorists run the show as long as they remain on the leash and don't bite the master. A local Russian immigrant pointed out to me that Russia warned us about the Tsarnaev brothers only after splitting up the family and allowing them to come here. (As far as I know, none of the Soviet/Muslim states are included in Trump's travel ban)

I'm not sure when Russia came to be seen as "western" but they really aren't. As my Russian friend explained to me, 'Russian morality is always subjective and its always for sale.'

I think it is a matter of perception, just as in the days when "Uncle Joe" was out ally.

Putin seems to be a complete reprobate who regards himself as a Christian.  That's why I would never vote for him as the world's leader.

Ann is just another liberal dumb@ss masquerading as a rightie, IMO (after all, she did ""do"" that ugly leftie cretin Bill Maher). 

Russia has been arming and aiding America's enemies without for DECADES.  That's not a nation you can suddenly become 'friends' with, much less family.  To not know that would mean that you're a special, and perhaps even new, kind of Dumb@ss.  Congrats, Ann.  It's official.
