Charlotte Hogg resigns as Bank of England deputy governor
« on: March 15, 2017, 04:11:13 am »

Charlotte Hogg has resigned as deputy governor of the Bank of England less than a fortnight into the role after failing to disclose that her brother holds a senior position at Barclays.

Ms Hogg was criticised by an influential group of MPs for not declaring that her brother, Quintin, is a director of strategy at the commercial bank - one of the institutions that she regulates.

It is also breaks the Bank of England’s code of conduct that Ms Hogg helped to write, which MPs said demonstrated that she was not fit to serve in the role.

In a scathing report, the Treasury Select committee said Ms Hogg’s “professional competence [fell] short” of the standards required to fulfil the role of a deputy governor.
