Should displaying the American flag in the “wrong place” be a criminal act worthy of prison time?

74-year-old U.S. Army veteran Bob Rosebrock is facing the possibility of six months in prison for the “crime” of hanging a six-inch American flag on a fence outside the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Affairs facility.

Rosebrock hung the flag last Memorial Day to protest the treatment of homeless veterans, but the VA is choosing to prosecute him for it on the grounds that he did so without permission.
