Navy Establishes a ‘Topgun’ for Information Warfighting

By RICHARD R. BURGESS, Managing Editor

ARLINGTON, Va. — Following a pattern for other warfighting domains, the Navy has established a warfighting development center for information warfare.

U.S. Fleet Forces Command on March 1 established the Naval Information Warfighting Development Center, located in the Joint Reserve Intelligence Center in Norfolk, Va. according to a Feb. 27 Navy directive.

The new command “is part of a series of Chief of Naval Operations-directed actions to establish a warfighting development center for each of the warfare type commands. The center will train and assess information warfare forces in advanced tactics, techniques, and procedures,” the directive said.
