Quote
Don't knock meatloaf. It's gotten a bad rap.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and his wife Mary Pat had lunch with President Donald Trump on Valentine's Day and, according to Christie, Trump made him have the White House meatloaf. "This is what it's like to be with Trump," Christie said during a guest host spot on a radio show on Thursday, according to the New York Post. "He says, 'There's the menu, you guys order whatever you want.' And then he says, 'Chris, you and I are going to have the meatloaf.'" According to Christie, Trump said, "I'm telling you, the meatloaf is fabulous."

I guess it all depends on how long the meat has been loafing.  ^-^
“The way I see it, every time a man gets up in the morning he starts his life over. Sure, the bills are there to pay, and the job is there to do, but you don't have to stay in a pattern. You can always start over, saddle a fresh horse and take another trail.” ― Louis L'Amour

Quite a bizarre story if you ask me. Not bizarre it happens, but bizarre it is news.

Someone saw fit to tell this to a media outlet. A media outlet then thought it was worthy of running as a story.  And as a note, this isn't coming from a left-wing media outlet. Market Watch is fairly down the middle if not right leaning.

The first thought was this is a story about a power play 'here, you can have whatever you want, and you'll eat what I tell you...' but that is even a stretch.

What do we suppose the story behind the story is on this? What is the actual message?

Personally, I think Trump wanted Christie to enjoy his meal.  Meatloaf is one of Trump's favorite foods.  He said to Christie, "The meatloaf is fabulous."  Does there have to be some ulterior motive other than he wanted Christie to enjoy the damned meatloaf?

Agreed. When I take people out to a place I have been to before and they haven't I also tell them to have this or that because it is good. The converse is true when I am out with people in a strange place. This is easily the stupidest story in history that won't go away.

Royal taster. Did he wait for Christie to eat first?

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Ever wrap meatloaf in bacon? It's pretty fabulous.
