Trump weighs mobilizing Nat Guard for immigration roundups

I guess if you want to get it done without having to hire tens of thousands more agents, this is how you would do it.

Quote
The Trump administration is considering a proposal to mobilize as many as 100,000 National Guard troops to round up unauthorized immigrants, including millions living nowhere near the Mexico border, according to a draft memo obtained by The Associated Press.

The 11-page document calls for the unprecedented militarization of immigration enforcement as far north as Portland, Oregon, and as far east as New Orleans, Louisiana....

White House: AP Report on National Guard Rounding Up Illegal Immigrants False
Posted By Natalie Johnson On February 17, 2017 @ 10:27 am In Issues | No Comments

The White House on Friday denied an Associated Press report citing a draft memo that proposed the deployment of up to 100,000 National Guard troops to detain immigrants who are in the United States illegally.

White House press secretary Sean Spicer told reporters on Marine One that the report is "100 percent not true."

Bummer.  I guess the document the AP has is either false information or was just a proposal. That, or different departments and the President aren't communicating.

Back to the drawing board.

They seem pretty specific about the memo and who wrote it so I'm guessing it was written but rejected.

And while they're at it, maybe they should go into Chicago and clean up the gang problem there.  Can't seem to get it done with the idiots running/ruining the city so far.  I can hear the left howling now (abuse of power, Awwwk!).

Obama used the NG to enforce immigration in 2011.

Do folks around here still believe the press is just doing its job?

What is its job? That 'Fourth Estate' business is just a notion and not holy writ.

Fake News:

http://freebeacon.com/issues/wh-denies-ap-report-national-guard-round-up-illegal-immigrants/

Fake, incorrect, or changing?

AP did receive a draft memo outlining this.

Was the memo fake, was it incorrect, or did the story/plan change?

Throwing around the term 'fake' is getting as old as throwing around 'offended'.

The question is what is the story behind the different stories?

If the memo was fake, where did it come from?  Who gave it to AP?

If the memo wasn't fake, but just a proposal, then the denial should have been clarified.

If the memo wasn't fake but something changed or different departments are making plans and not communicating, that is an entirely other story.

Remember, there is no state-sanctioned press.

You are the press too, if you step up and do the job. That doesn't mean you have the same platform as AP or CNN, but that does mean you have the right to go out and investigate and write your opinion on the matter.

You have a platform here to do that. You (and everyone, this isn't directed specifically at you but is a point for all of us), can and should, look for the story behind the story (see note above) do your own research, and draft your own story.

It is how we get above the press, not just ride the waves of the stories we like or don't like.

According to Rush..

The memo is not fake.....BUT like the Pentagon there are dozens of future contingency plans for any given situation and this was one of them and was never even considered. It was never even seen by Trump.
Apparently someone thought they hit the jackpot by releasing this to damage Trump.

The press is no different than they've ever been.

5 or 6 hundred years ago the town crier was out there yelling the news according to the dictates of a king or whoever paid him to do so. Look at the press wars our founders often got into. It wasn't uncommon for them to write anonymous op-eds attacking political opponents or promoting their viewpoint. Often they did so through newspapers they themselves anonymously supported and funded.

Look at the way the media treated Nixon. They portrayed him as a frail old man going up against a young and vigorous JFK. In reality they were less than 10 years apart in age. They gave JFK very favorable lighting during debates while they lowered the lights right down over Nixon's head so he would be sweating profusely.

Reagan dealt with it better than any I've seen. He refused to allow the media to bait him into an argument with them. When they shouted dumb baited questions at him he just laughed them off or walked away with a wave. He used the media cameras in his oval office speeches to plainly state his goals and principles with obvious sincerity. People loved him for it.

Thank you, now we are starting to dig into the real story, what's behind it. The truth isn't as clear as 'it is fake' or 'it is absolutely right'.

Exactly. We probably have contingency plans to invade Canada. It doesn't mean we're going to invade, it just gives us a rough draft of how we would if we must for some unseen reason.

(We could seize everything from Georgian bay north to Hudson bay and west to the Rockies within a day or 2. Blockade the east and west coasts and they would be negotiating their surrender within 6 to 8 months.)

I hear this is to smoke out the leaker.

O'Reilly tonight

It was a staff level memo and the NG option was only listed as one of several possible contingencies.

It was a low level document and was never seen by Trump. This is fake news. The document is real, but the story written about it is entirely fake. But the panic and damage it caused cannot be undone, and AP knows this. In fact, they are counting on this.
