During his weekly press conference Thursday, House Speaker Paul Ryan announced a bill to repeal Obamacare would be introduced next week. “After the House returns following the Presidents Day, we intend to introduce legislation to repeal and replace Obamacare,” Ryan said. He added, “It has become increasingly clear that this law is collapsing.

“Look at the events that happened this week. On Tuesday another major insurance company announced that it too will leave the marketplace. In its decision, Humana cited a lack of young people signing up, a problem that has dogged Obamacare for years now.

Are they going to let us know what's in it? Before they pass it?

Excellent news.

Indeed! Can't WAIT to see what's in it!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Same here. Probably going to mean a whole 'nother boatload of work for me since I work at one of those major insurance companies, but I can live with that if my own insurance stops costing me so much and covering so little.

I just hope it contains at least some movement toward a return to F R E E D O M ! ! !

I'll believe it when it is passed and I can read it for myself.

I'll be surprised if there's much such movement. Let's hope I'm surprised.

Odd, the mainstream media is reporting today that the republican-controlled congress is in a quagmire!
I hope this pans out to prove them wrong, once again.

No need. One may safely assume that they are wrong, since everything the leftist mass media tries to promulgate is the opposite of reality.

Largely and increasingly it has been the habit of the leftist mass media to state their morbid fantasies about conservative leaders as reality.

The IRS has already stopped excluding tax returns for failing to answer questions about ACA coverage. IOW, if you don't want to pay the penalty, you no longer have to - thanks to an executive order.

This has been coming for a long time. HHS secretary Tom Price has spent a great deal of time over the last few years drafting proposals for exactly this thing.

Probably, but it would be humorous if they announced they were going to keep it all secret and spring it on us like a big Christmas present.

I'm assuming the bill will offer me not only one big apology but also a substantial check for making my rates more than double.

We've already seen this play by the GOP.

Here's a famous scene from not that long ago:

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

About 30 years ago my employer (in energy services) offered a revolutionary plan called "flexible benefits."

For health insurance, if you wanted higher deductibles (essentially self-insuring for routine items) you got less money deducted from your check.

Likewise if you took less sick days, you got a net benefit. It was done by setting a single number of paid time-off days per year. Take it as sick, as holiday, or as vacation; or not at all. You could accumulate this, and get paid upon leaving the firm.

Employees loved it (except high sick time users).

My guess is on the health insurance item, Obamacare and associated complications render such freedom and flexibility almost impossible to administer.

One thing which reflects changes in society, is the idea a n adult remains on mommy's and daddy's insurance to the age of 26.

I thought we gave them voting at 18.
