Humans causing climate to change 170x faster than natural forces
« on: February 12, 2017, 04:42:30 pm »
For the first time, researchers have developed a mathematical equation to describe the impact of human activity on the earth, finding people are causing the climate to change 170 times faster than natural forces.

The equation was developed in conjunction with Professor Will Steffen, a climate change expert and researcher at the Australian National University, and was published in the journal The Anthropocene Review.

Even the name of the journal sounds like an activist publication.

"Anthropocene" was a term invented a few years ago alleging that human activity has altered the environment so much in the past 500 years or so that it deserves to be classified as a separate period. There still hasn't been a consensus among scientists to accept this hypothesis.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Exactly what I was thinking. The pressure on the environment when horsecrap hits the ground.

The Results:
The collected horse manure samples contained viable
seeds for invasive plants identified on the Cal-IPC's list of
problematic invasive species list.

By implication, the article's title defines humans as not natural.

This is as strange as the ability of some quacks to derive a formula that calculated this

Here's a money quote:
Quote
“In the equation, astronomical and geophysical forces tend to zero because of their slow nature or rarity, as do internal dynamics, for now. All these forces still exert pressure, but currently on orders of magnitude less than human impact.”

(that's a statement from the paper itself)

Hmmm.  Yeah.  That comet/asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs and radically changed the climate tended to zero.

:facepalm2:

fascinating.

And yet, even the IPCC's own reports have had to acknowledge that there has been a hiatus in the warming for at least the past 17 years.  What happened there?  Did human forces tend to zero?

What a bunch of agit-prop hooey.

OK, I can come up with an equation that shows just the opposite, and will probably be closer to actual temperature measurements than his can.

Exactly!  nothing more or less!

To bad we don't have a correct forum for this type of article.  Something like "Snake Oil Sale and Purveyor's of Dubious or Fraudulent Position Papers ".
