Seven people have been arrested at protests outside a US immigration office in Phoenix, amid fears a woman was due to be deported to Mexico.

Guadalupe Garcia de Rayos, 36, was taken into custody during a routine check in at the centre, US reports say.

The mother of two has been living in the US illegally since the age of 14.

Protesters, who feared her deportation under President Donald Trump's clamp down on immigration, blocked a van believed to be carrying Ms de Rayos.

7 protesters doesn't indicate a high number were out there.  I've seen people busted for shoplifting that probably weren't that bad of individuals other than having decided to try and steal some clothing.

There were more than seven protesters.  Seven was the number arrested.  But you're correct, it wasn't a huge crowd.  Would have been larger if they had more advanced notice.
