KYIV -- A separatist commander in the eastern Ukrainian region of Donetsk has been assassinated, the Russia-backed separatists say.
Mikhail Tolstykh, better known by his nom de guerre Givi, died after a bomb exploded in his office in the separatist stronghold of Donetsk just after 6 a.m. local time on February 8, de facto separatist authorities and a source with ties to its military told RFE/RL by phone.

These commanders are getting hit but it sure looks like they are getting "hit" in the territory they largely control. The two sides are firing mortar rounds at each other, I hardly envision the Ukrainian underground planting these bombs in a car as happened last week or in an office as this case is. They'd need moles, double-agents to be doing this. It's already known there are power struggles within the Rebel groups.
I'm reading some info on Mikhail Tolstykh, "Givi", some say he was an accomplished dancer; also:
In January 2015, several videos surfaced of Tolstykh physically abusing prisoners captured at the Second Battle of Donetsk Airport. Tolstykh is seen clearly identifying himself before grabbing the prisoners by the face, brandishing a dagger, and cutting off military insignia and forcing them into the prisoners' mouths. - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Tolstykh
That video has actually made the rounds, so it was him?
