Reason posted this: "Meet the Libertarian-Leaning GOP State Senator Whose Career Donald Trump Wants To Destroy"

I'd have to say this is outright lying, deceptive is too kind of a word.

The first lie; is even insinuating that Trump is talking about a certain woman; the Reason article leads one to believe Trump knows this.

"Konni Burton is leading a coalition to reform civil-asset forfeiture abuses. So naturally the president is against her." - http://reason.com/blog/2017/02/07/meet-the-libertarian-leaning-gop-state-s/print

Gee, why does Trump even say "He" if this is whom he is criticizing? "'What's his name? We'll destroy his career': http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4200990/Trump-s-offers-destroy-career-Texas-lawmaker.html

More deception from the Libertarian outlet, Reason with this:

Quote
Sheriff tells Trump that state senator is doing something he doesn't like

Trump: "Do you want to give his name? We'll destroy his career." pic.twitter.com/75y3t9zc54

Gosh, is there some reason this column from Reason makes no mention that the Sheriff was mentioning a Mexican Drug Cartel?

Again, the Daily Mail:

Quote
A Texas sheriff told the president about a lawmaker who was backing asset forfeiture legislation the sheriff believed would help the Mexican drug cartels

Quote
'Who is the state senator? Do you want to give his name? We'll destroy his career,' the president offered today in the Roosevelt Room at the White House.

Amid laughter, Rockwall County, Texas, Sheriff Harold Eavenson stayed mum and didn't give up the senator's name, nor did he accept Trump's offer.

And who was this Sheriff?

Quote
Eavenson, who is next in line to become president of the National Sheriff's Association, spoke of a bill that he believed would aid Mexican drug cartels.

Oh, that's all, a Sheriff, whose name we are not even told in the Reason article who is set to become president of the National Sheriff's Association. That's all.

Quote
Do you believe that?' Trump responded.

'And I told him that the cartel would build a monument to him in Mexico if he would get that legislation passed,' Eavenson said

And the Sheriff told HIM???  But the Reason article is insisting this is a woman... at least in the lead in of the article:

Re: "Konni Burton is leading a coalition to reform civil-asset forfeiture abuses. So naturally the president is against her."

Then, in the first lines of the editorial; concede it could be 4 different Senators, never mind.

Quote
Speaking on CNN, Todd Gillman of the Dallas Morning News said his paper's reporters had narrowed it down to two people.

Both Republicans, Gillman explained that the two men were civil libertarians and thus were against the idea that the government could seize one's property.

So, now, per the Dallas Morning News, it doesn't even look like it would be this state Senator Konni Burton. Thus, the Reason article appears to be a total hatchet job.

Another day, another absurd smear by the good folks at Reason.

One has to reference both articles to see what a mishmash this tale is.

Of course Trump would assume it was a male, not a grabable kitty.

Asset forfeiture laws have nothing to do with drug cartels, that's just a scare tactic by the Sheriff.
