Excerpt:

President Trump also signed an executive order instructing all government agencies to do what they can to ease the burden of Obamacare, according to National Public Radio. It’s the first step to the law’s repeal, which the Trump Administration has said is their number one priority. The president said that his replacement plan would cover everyone, but was scarce on the details.

He could at least cancel the fine for this year as a step in the right direction

I don't know if that's in his hands. And if the fine is dropped for this year then maybe everyone will want to drop their policies for next year.

The fine was suspended before, it can be again.

Exactly.  How many EOs did Obama apply to that abomination to delay implementation of fines and and assign waivers?

Wouldn't this EO cover that?

It doesn't sound like it specifically did this.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Even though SCOTUS said it was a tax, it was suspended by EO, even though the Executive has no real authority to tax or untax.

And the precedent set BY the legislature is that the executive can act as a dictatorship and tax or untax at its discretion among other things once reserved solely for Congress.

Mike Lee seems to think Congress needs to act to stop Trump doing the same with tariffs.

Let's see if the rest of Congress agrees with his efforts to return those powers they willfully surrendered to Obama back to the Legislature.

or if the Establishment under Trump decides to give Lee the Cruz treatment.

  • The more I know the less I understand
We've learned so much over the past 8 years it would be a shame to waste all that education.  For example:

The president can write tax code.

The president can interpret words however he damn well pleases.

"As determined by the Secretary" will now mean as determined by the person who answers the phone at the Oval Office.  And the word "Affordable" will now be re-interpreted to mean "affordable".

Jeez, the imagination runs wild.
