The Top 10 Guns Women Purchased in 2016
The Well-Armed Woman

It’s that time of year again, the Top 10 time of year. So let’s talk guns, more specifically, the gun’s women are buying. Although I am a fierce advocate of each woman getting her hands on and shooting as many guns as possible to help find the “Right one” for her, I believe there is real value in knowing what firearms other women are selecting as their handguns for self defense. We all know that there is no one right gun for all women, but I think knowing what women across the country are buying, at a minimum, can help to narrow down the possibilities and help to create a great list of guns to try, or at least start with. ...

Here are the top 10 firearms women purchased in the year 2016, starting with number 10.

10. Glock 19
9.  S&W Bodyguard .380
8.  Springfield XDS
7.  Sig Sauer P938
6.  Ruger LCP
5.  Glock 42
4.  Ruger LC9s
3.  Sig Sauer P238
2.  Glock 43
1.  S&W M&P 9 Shield

Much more information and a discussion of holsters and revolver vs. semi-auto at The Well-Armed Woman.

All good weapons. I'd add the Kimber micro but I can see why it's not on the list. It's pricey and that does play into the buying considerations for women more than men.

It's why my wife keeps trying to find cheaper alternatives to the S&W 686 .357 she REALLY wants.

I have an older S&W .380, the Sigma. It's a lot to lug around, but I don't feel like spending any more on guns right now. I like what I've seen of the Ruger LCP, though.

Well after lots of comparisons...research and at times some flat out indecision...my wife went against the Top 10 for 2016 and got this.

My apologies...it's a Ruger SP101 .357 Magnum.

Thanks.  I like the 357.  I shoot it in a small frame lever action rifle.  I've been trying to decide a revolver to go with it.

We did I don't know how many hours of research and comparison she and I did...but it seems to be that the consensus of the articles I read is the S&W 640 is more refined...the Rossi and the Taurus you get what you pay for...but if you want a small frame that's built like a tank that will handle a regular diet of .357...go with the Ruger.
