Romania to appoint first Muslim PM in EU - and she’s a woman!

A woman is set to become Romania’s first Muslim prime minister, and Europe’s third head of state of that faith, after she was nominated on Wednesday.

Sevil Shhaideh’s Social Democrat Party gained the most seats in the country’s elections ten days ago. The party’s leader Liviu Dragnea was unable to take up the post as she was convicted of electoral fraud in April.

Romania’s population is made up of 86 percent Orthodox Christians, with Muslims representing only 0.3 percent of the population, according to the 2011 census. The Muslim minority mostly consists of ethnic Tartars and Turks, remnants of the former Ottoman Empire which ruled there for five centuries.

And besides all of this other, Romania was a heavy handed Communist Dictatorship for about 40 years or so.

I'm sure they are largely an Orthodox Christian country.

They rejected her nomination.  She will not be appointed.
