According to a newly released report by the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE), university speech codes have become more free for the ninth year in a row.
The percentage of schools receiving "red light" ratings for unconstitutional speech restrictions fell from 49.3% last year to 39.6% this year, the ninth straight year in which the number has declined.
Nine years ago, 79% of public universities received red light ratings, compared to just 33.9% in 2016.
