On Sunday at least 25 people were killed, and 49 others were injured in a terrorist bombing in Cairo’s largest Christian church.

Security sources: At least six children are among the dead.
This weekend was the international holiday marking the birth of Islam's Prophet Muhammad.
Explosion occurred at end of Sunday Mass, device contained at least 26 pounds of TNT.
Heba Farouk Mahfouz, Egyptian reporter: Bomb was reportedly placed in a female handbag in a seat in the back of the church.
Mahfouz: Explosion hit the section where female worshipers mainly stood, explaining why majority of victims were women.
Attiya Mahrous, cathedral worker: “I found bodies, many of them women, lying on the pews. It was a horrible scene.”
Terror attack targeted St. Mark's Cathedral in Cairo, the largest Christian church in the Egyptian capital.
St. Mark's Cathedral is the seat of Egypt's Orthodox Christian Church and home to the office of its spiritual leader, Pope Tawadros II.

Kremlin press service: Russian President Vladimir Putin has offered condolences to his Egyptian counterpart.
Putin: Sunday attack was “especially deplorable” as there were women and children among the victims.
Putin: International community should stand together in its efforts to uproot terrorism.
Attack came two days after two roadside bombs in Cairo and to the north of the capital, left six police officers dead and six others injured.
