The reckoning: Who was the absolute worst pundit of the election?
By Thomas Lifson

Is it schadenfreude season yet? Surely, the epic failure of the pundit class deserves some commemoration. The just has to be a reckoning for people who sold opinions that were completely off-base, out of touch, and hilariously arrogant.

The controversy over Mitt Romney as a possible secretary of state for Donald Trump has boiled down to a few elements, perhaps the most prominent at the moment being the desire for an apology being expressed by a number of Trump loyalists. Bu what about the pundits? If they earn their living by providing expert analysis, haven’t they disgraced themselves?

This may never be solved!  Too many choices!

Oh, I think it's got to be Hannity.

He acted like a teenaged girl angry at the other girls who didn't like her boyfriend.

His crush on Trump was scary...

I have no particular interest in identifying the worst pundit of this election season.  But I have no hesitation in pointing out the best - the redoubtable Peggy Noonan.

Hannity, hands down.

Maybe Rachel "You're not dreaming" Maddow on the left. She just annoys me.

I'm going with Hannity as well.

The guy always nauseated me, as did his stupid shows - and this past year that discernment was not unfounded.

Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

Maybe... I don't know? He never liked Trump but I don't recall him making any false predictions.

That's what i was thinking.  But from the right, Sean Hannity and Michael Savage are big contenders for the top prize.  Then there is Ann Coulter who should get a sick category all her own.

I think Limbaugh deserves a place in that list.  He wasn't the worst, but played it too cute by half.

Hear, hear! I was once a listener, whenever I could find time during lunch. During this election cycle, I stopped and doubt I will go back.

I'll never go back.

His entire appeal was that he truly believed in conservatism....... that it was the answer to our nation's problems.

That is what I have always believed.

Now I know he doesn't believe a word of it.  He stands for nothing.

I'll never listen again.

Ever.

It wasn't exactly a secret that Thrush Limburger believed in the Republican Party above and beyond
even conservative thought. Hugh Hewitt was the same way long enough before now.

even conservative thought. Hugh Hewitt was the same way long enough before now.

I know I differ from some of you here, but I have believed that you could be a part of the Republican party and still an honest conservative, knowing that in your party were many who weren't in agreement with you.  I have also recognized that the leaders of the party were weak and not conservative.

But the significant difference for me, is the victory of Trump within the party, and the way most Republicans embraced him, regardless of the fact that not a single thing about him was conservative, and that he completely disregarded and disavowed the Constitution with every word he said, meant that all ties with the party needed to be severed.   It's been a gradual pulling away with me, but the cord was completely cut with Trump.

I thought that Limbaugh was more like me than he obviously is..... that he was a Conservative wanting to work within the party.   That clearly is not true.   His loyalty and love of Trump completely disavows any conservatism he once claimed to have.

His entire show was clearly an act, and I'm sorry I didn't see it before now.
