Pentagon bosses are sending the Falcon Brigade – an elite unit of airborne soldiers – into the war zone as ISIS loses their grip on Mosul.

The troopers will be part of Operation Inherent Resolve and will help the forces of the Iraqi Army purge the death cult from their last stronghold in Iraq.

Yesterday, the soldiers from the 82nd Airborne Division held their final training regiments at Fort Bragg in the US before being shipped out to the Middle East.

Colonel J. Patrick Work, commander of the Falcon Brigade, boasted his soldiers are “ready to fight”.

He said: "Our country's been at war for a long time and there's no guarantee that any of this is going to go away.

“But we're going to help the Iraqis and our nation drive Daesh from the battlefield.”
