Area 51 Aerial Time Lapse Shows How the Secretive Location Has Grown

America's most mysterious government base is Nevada's Area 51. A sprawling airfield and military test facility lodged between a dry lake bed and a mountain, Area 51 was where the U-2 spy plane, SR-71 Blackbird, and the F-117A Nighthawk stealth fighter were all developed. According to conspiracy theorists, it's also where the government has cooperated with aliens to develop top-secret UFO technology.
The remote desert location has been fenced off from the prying eyes of civilians. A 23 by 25-mile no-fly zone for civilian aircraft was imposed over the base and on the ground, and nearby locations Freedom Ridge and White Sides Peak—with their vantage points for looking down on the base—were declared off-limits by the government.
