Mike Pence: ‘Buckle Up’ for Trump’s First 100 Days

Fred Lucas December 06, 2016

Vice President-elect Mike Pence asserted Tuesday night that the Trump administration will have an aggressive first 100 days in office that includes rebuilding the military, repealing Obamacare, and naming a justice to the Supreme Court.

The Indiana governor and former U.S. House member said he has visited Capitol Hill about the agenda and issued a warning to GOP lawmakers.

“I told my former colleagues to buckle up, vacation is over,” Pence said to laughter from the audience.

Apologies in advance, but I find Pence's comments a bit condescending. I fear he's fallen into the trap of the attitude that the Executive Branch is of higher rank than the Legislative Branch.

He's a condescending git.  Remember his snarky comment about how it was time to "come home" and obediently vote for the Orange Menace.

Your serious devotion to Trump aside....having just visited the Flight 93 memorial...I find it really disgusting that you use Todd Beamer's words and that imagery normally reserved for 9/11 as a cheap political slogan in an attempt to tell us what "millions" of Americans are thinking.

It's bad enough that the Trump and his followers blatantly stole the slogan of THE greatest conservative voice of the 20th Century...but this...IMHO is beyond the pale.  Find another way to do it.

And the sad thing is...I already know you really DGAF.  **nononono*

Yes, the Orangeshirts do number in the millions.  So did the Brownshirts.

The question is: with a cabinet that's been vetted by Obama, just exactly how far left are things going to roll?

Ah, @txradioguy   You should know I read the first sentence of your posts to me.   And if, as it this case, I see your knee-jerk hate, I read no further.

Take care.   :seeya:

Pence is an ideal conservative with some real accomplishments to boot, not just a bunch of words.

First, it's not possible to "rebuild the military" in 100 days.

Second, Trumpist rhetoric and hyperbole is over the top - someone should remind them the campaign is over.

Man, I can't believe how quickly everyone is to go negative.

So far I've liked a lot more than I disliked and Trump isn't even sworn in yet. Trump's appointments have looked pretty good. He hasn't backed off getting rid of obamacare. He says he's going to build the wall. He's pushing for a major tax code overhaul. He's promising to rescind all the executive orders he can and Ryan says they're working on legislation to deal with the rest. I see lots of reasons to be optimistic and he isn't even in office yet.

I know Trump isn't going to become a class act overnight, but if we can get conservative judges and most of the other things he said he would do I'll be happy.

I think where Trump supporters will be upset is immigration. He's already talking about a deal for "dreamers".

That's likely to come.

I mean, they have already appropriated the "America First" organization of the 1930s.

Empowered the anti-Semites and white supremacists.

And hold the Presidency and both houses of Congress.

Why wouldn't that come next?
