Hillary’s Last Gasp
By Fred Lucas

Hillary Clinton would have to win a clean sweep of recounts in Wisconsin, Michigan, and Pennsylvania in order to overturn the election, and even her team concedes flipping one state is unlikely.

Nevertheless, the Clinton campaign is officially contesting the outcome of the 2016 presidential election. There is no other way to describe joining Green Party candidate Jill Stein’s effort to get recounts in the three states.

After the third presidential debate when Trump indicated he might not accept the outcome, Clinton said, “that is a direct threat to our democracy.” That’s when she thought she would win. Clinton is seemingly a passive participant in the recount effort, but after her attacks on Trump, she couldn’t exactly go all in. That doesn’t mean Stein is a stalking horse for Clinton, but this certainly allows the former secretary of state to challenge the outcome without appearing to threaten democracy.

Could you imagine the chaos is Hillary claimed a sudden victory? I've never supported Trump, but I might take up arms and march in order to get answers to THAT kind of chicanery!
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

For her purposes, she doesn't have to necessarily get enough additional votes to change the result in the electoral college; a close second best is racking up enough additional popular votes to further delegitimize Trump's election.  About 126 million votes were cast, so right now her lead in the popular vote is a little over 1% of the total number of votes cast.  If she can pick up enough to get to a margin of 2.5 million votes over Trump, that would represent 2% of the total votes cast.  At some point the import of that fact becomes almost undeniable:  US elections are seriously out of sync with the concept of a well-developed democracy and simply reciting the canard that the US is a republic, not a democracy, is not going to cut it.

So, if, as is highly unlikely, the more accurate set of vote tallies showed that Clinton actually won, you would not accept the results of a valid election but would instead resort to armed insurrection?  What, then, makes you any different (in a positive way) from those democrats who haven't accepted the current state of affairs and are calling for recounts?

Your calls for peace and understanding will require proof additional votes weren't "found" for Clinton.

Good luck with that.
