COLORADO SPRINGS -Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper is speaking out against Donald Trump's immigration plan to deport millions who are in this country illegally when he takes office in January. The governor says many in that community are fearful about their future.

News5 spoke with people in Colorado Springs who are here legally, but worry that others might not have the same opportunities that they were given in America.

Noor Phillips worked alongside the U.S. military as a linguist in Iraq. She is here in America on a special immigrant visa, but she says she's considering leaving voluntarily.

Who knows.  There are a lot of crazy libs in the Denver Boulder area.  Fortunately the surrounding suburbs are quite conservative.  Any action/riots/protests that happen in Denver would be pretty contained to the metro area.

Chickenlooper was the one who gave the state same day voter registration. This resulted in vans full of illegals going from one polling place to another on election day, registering and voting, then moving to the next place....  Colorado is permanently blue until that one gets reversed.

How is Hickenlooper proposing to stop the federal government from discharging their duties under The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1952? CO National Guard?

Interestingly, that's not possible -- probably the most important aspect of the USSC Obamacare ruling said the gov't can't do that.

Hopefully this will be rectified when they 'correct' Obamacare.

BTW, if you visit CO, stay the hell out of Colorado Springs. It is easily the deadliest city in the world if the program Homicide Hunter is any indication. There are people killing each other in strange ways every 5 minutes there.

Anything that helps decentralize power is preferred IMO. In this case, teaching localities to operate without going hat in hand to Washington is a good thing. Making them hurt for their ridiculous sanctuary city policies is a bonus.

It was a majority ruling striking down the provision of Obamacare that would withhold all Medicaid funding to states that elected to not participate. 

My recollection was that they did not make this specific, and thus made it general; and given that it's a favored federal tactic, I think the precedent is established for states that wish to push back in general.

I can appreciate that as one of the remaining 15 Democrat governors in the U.S., Mr. Hickenlooper is afraid of losing members of a vital core constituency, namely Undocumented Democrats.

Their removal would present a serious challenge to the future electoral prospects of Democrats serving in statewide offices outside of the coastal corridors. One can readily appreciate how such Democrats would dread having to rely on less dependable voting blocs, such as public sector employees on extended disability leave and the inhabitants of various tree-shaded graveyards.

Actually, I haven't noticed that the threat has been employed recently....

He gave a shout out in a speech at a public school that he felt wasn't treating transgenders right that he would do it. There may be other occasions but I remember that one.

I'm not sure that would be applicable to this situation with immigration.
