REPORT: Mexican Government Developing Plans to Handle Mass Deportations Under President Trump

    3:53 pm, November 15th, 2016

During the campaign, President-elect Donald Trump promised to deport undocumented immigrants present in the United States illegally. The president-elect explained the logistics of this promise during an interview on 60 Minutes this past Sunday, telling correspondent Lesley Stahl that the initial plan calls for deporting or incarnating up to 3 million immigrants who are here illegally and also have criminal records.

“What we are going to do is get the people that are criminal and have criminal records, gang members, drug dealers, we have a lot of these people, probably two million, it could be even three million, we are getting them out of our country or we’re going to incarcerate [them],” Trump explained. “But we’re getting them out of our country, they’re here illegally.”

Good! That is exactly what they should be doing!
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

From the linked CNN report in the posted article:

Quote
In a news conference Monday, Eduardo Sanchez, spokesman for Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto, told reporters deportations would be part of any agenda discussed by Peña Nieto and Trump.

"We will have to see how many of those deportations, usually done by the United States government to the countries where the illegal immigrants are from, are for Mexico," he said.

Returning boarder hoppers to their country of origin is traditional (for wont of a better word). However, there is no international law which requires it. Returning them to the country from which they entered is considered perfectly legal.

This is a case where returning them - all of them - to the country from which they entered (Mexico) is a sound policy. Mexico grants 30 day transit permits to potential illegal entrants to the USA pretty much at will. Mexico being forced to deal with the costs associated with a sudden dumping of central Americans, whether to repatriate them themselves or otherwise, will make them rethink this policy rather quickly.

A boarder wall is fine. A wall has two sides. Mexico should be reminded of that fact.
