NH. Rindge sees hope after presidential election
« on: November 13, 2016, 01:32:30 pm »

There’s hope afoot in Rindge these days.

The town, described by one resident as “the last Republican stronghold in Cheshire County,” has voted for Republican presidents loyally for the past five elections, defying the preference by the county — and state — for Democrats.

But while Rindge was the sole town in Cheshire County to vote for Romney in 2012 (and even then, narrowly), it is one of 12 that backed president-elect Donald Trump this election. A total of 1,961 Rindge voters chose Trump on Tuesday, compared to 1,292 for Democrat Hillary Clinton, though Clinton won the county and state overall.

And now, with a clean Republican electoral sweep over the White House and Congress, as well as New Hampshire Republican victories in the governor’s office and Legislature, some Rindge residents are feeling the glow of triumph.
