Arrieta lifted for Mike Montgomery after a two out walk; Montgomery throws one pitch and gets a nifty
force at second, 7-2 Cubs after six . . .

The Cubs strand two in the top of the seventh but keep that 7-2 lead . . . big question is can they sustain
the lead big enough to not even think about having to go to Chapman until Game Seven?

They brought in Chapman with two on and two out.
From my own game notes:

Aroldis Chapman relieved Mike Montgomery, p, Cubs. Lindor: swinging strike through high gas; grounder to the right side,
Rizzo tossing to Chapman racing to the pad and Lindor beats it by a step to load the ducks on the pond!!! Chapman limping a
little . . . TV replay shows Chapman's foot hit the pad just ahead of Lindor . . . the call is reversed and the out is called but now
the question is whether Chapman is injured on that play.

A leadoff walk, a dial on Area Code 5-4-3, and a called punchout, and it's 7-2 Cubs mid-eighth . . .
and now the question becomes, does Chapman stay in despite a limp and finish, and if he does
does it mean the Indians have the bigger advantage in Game Seven if there is one?

Yes, Maddon.  Use Chapman tonight--with the Cubs in the lead-- so he's not available for a critical seventh game.

This is brutal for Indian fans.  How many grand slams happen during a typical World Series?  Ouch!

Including Russell's salami, there have only been nineteen hit in World Series history:

Paul Konerko, Chicago (AL), Oct. 23, 2005, 7th
Tino Martinez, New York (AL), Oct. 17, 1998, 7th
Lonnie Smith, Atlanta, Oct. 22, 1992, 5th
Jose Canseco, Oakland, Oct. 15, 1988, 2nd
Kent Hrbek, Minnesota, Oct. 24, 1987, 6th
Dan Gladden, Minnesota, Oct. 17, 1987, 4th
Dave McNally, Baltimore, Oct. 13, 1970, 6th
Jim Northrup, Detroit, Oct. 9, 1968, 3rd
Joe Pepitone, New York (AL), Oct. 14, 1964, 8th
Ken Boyer, St. Louis, Oct. 11, 1964, 6th
Chuck Hiller, San Francisco, Oct. 8, 1962, 7th
Bobby Richardson, New York (AL), Oct. 8, 1960, 1st
Bill Skowron, New York (AL), Oct. 10, 1956, 7th
Yogi Berra, New York (AL), Oct. 5, 1956, 2nd

Well, I was hoping this would end tonight.  I get bad vibes about 7th games in World Series, but the Tribe can do it.

Just not if they play like they have tonight.

The Cubs bats were just too hot.

Gomes on a broken bat DP . . . 7-2 Cubs after eight!
