Come on now!  You are the one who doesn't have any idea as to what they have or don't have.  And furthermore I would bet you that Comey had to be dragged kicking and screaming to,making this move.  There has to,be something there or else he would never have agreed to do this.

This issue is fairly well covered in the scandal threads, really a good reason to merge threads rather than having to reinvent in the wheel all the time as they say.

Someone had to put a gun to his head to get him to send that letter to Congress.

Loretta Lynch put a gun to his head (and told the press about it) trying to get him to NOT send that letter.  It didn't matter.

Anyone with a shred of common sense knows that Hillary violated the law, and nearly anyone other than she would have already been indicted, but for the utter politicization of the Executive Branch under Barack Obama. None of that requires the assistance of hysterical conspiracy theories.

The FBI already knows at least some of what is in the emails, because they were tipped off by the NYPD. But they are required to publicly assert otherwise pending Justice Department approval of a search warrant. Any honest and impartial AG would provide such approval, given what is already known. But honesty and impartiality are the very opposites of what we have come to expect from this Administration.

There is a monumental tug-of-war going on behind the scenes, between career investigators in the FBI and the thoroughly corrupt Justice Department, with James Comey right in the middle. And make no mistake: it is not just Hillary that Loretta Lynch seeks to protect, but Barack Obama, the Clinton Foundation and Hillary's campaign associates as well.

They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

We have no idea what we don't know.  But to re-open an investigation of a major Presidential candidate eleven days out from the General?  A Democrat with a Democrat administration in place?  Yeah, there's something there.

I dont believe this story.   It's weiners laptop.   They know what is on it.    Comey is going against his boss.   He had hoped trumpy would win this and that it wouldnt matter.   Wiki leaks will dump it all this week anyway.   Our government is in crisis and even the court is policized.    It may take our military to remove the clinton crime machine

I am not seeing that. No way this helps Hillary. Even if there is nothing there it has already given new life to trump. I believe this guy used to be Republican and was originally a Bush appointee before being picked by Obama for the FBI.

@cuky

 :amen:

Most likely he still doesn't have a warrant because Bathhouse Barry has ordered the alleged Justice Department to not give him one.

Walks out on stage with his team.   Hillary Clinton, you are under arrest for obstruction of justice and espionage.  You have the right to remain silent and to have an attorney present durring all questioning.   Do you understand these rights as i have explained to you?  As the team cuffs her.   Turns to the crowd and says into the mic........ "Well that's about the size of it.....pilgrim!"

Most likely yes, but IMHO the chain of events went like this; NYPD investigating Weinergate came across the emails, NYPD did have a warrent and did read the emails. NYPD then alerted the FBI and TOLD THE FBI WHAT THEY READ.

So yeah,  the FBI knows whats in those emails and if the FBI doesn't do anything the NYPD will. Gun 1 to Comey head. Comey does something and Lynch puts gun 2 to Comey head.  Comey is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

This is the best assessment of the situation I've seen so far.  The questions are:  Will the DOJ issue the warrant?  Will anyone take action based on the fact that this is yet AMOTHER private device and it was not turned over to the FBI inn the original investigation?

Remember how radical left all 'dreamed' about frog-marching Bush & Cheney to jail?  I've been dreaming about the Clintons being hauled off for decades now.  Wow.  What a day that would be!  I probably wouldn't survive the post-arrest 'celebration' ....lolol.

They already have a search warrant for this computer, otherwise they wouldn't have it in their posession. Yes, it's for another (Weiner) case, but the agents on that case most certainly have seen at least some of the emails.

Any bets on how many copies of the entire contents of that laptop now exist?

FBI will not say "never mind".

No smart lawyer would ever ask any question they do not know the answer to beforehand.

This isn't a trial.  It's at the "police search a workplace and find stuff" stage.  It's as if they searched a workplace for evidence on "Bob" but see notes from "Sally" in his desk.

That's what happens when you go to work for these guys.  The minute you say "yes" to the job offer, you've put yourself in that position.  No sympathy for Comey at all (not that you were expressing any).

First, anyone peddling the "everyone knows" line is peddling hearsay.

Second, it's looking more apparent that the FBI knows that these emails exist and probably the email addresses in the to/from/cc/bcc lines as well as the subject line info.  Without a search warrant, the contents of the emails cannot be perused.

Third, because of #2, the FBI doesn't know what it has yet.

Fourth, Comey sent a letter to Congress and internally to the FBI stating roughly that.

---

And somehow that means they have got dirt on Hillary?  Maybe, but they don't know one way or another as yet.

Furthermore, as he's on record as stating he doesn't recommend prosecution as the evidence did not warrant it... I'd say he's going to need some pretty hefty justification to convince a judge to issue a search warrant on a case he, himself, has closed.

@kjam22

Nope,not gonna happen because there is no way in hell this AA Attorney General is going to allow an arrest warrant for Bubbette! to be issued,never mind an arrest warrant for her own arrest.

That's the Catch-22 in all of this and WHY none of this stuff was made public months ago. All they have to do now is hold on for another week,and they are all in the clear. No way are they going to fold at this point.

Hi Lando, Just wanted to share this:

Even though he has been a registered Republican for most of his adult life, FBI Director James Comey testified Thursday that he is no longer a registered member of the GOP.
"Although our politics are different — I gather you're a Republican — that correct?" Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-Va.) asked Comey in prefacing his remarks.
Comey responded, "I have been a registered Republican for most of my adult life, not registered any longer."

The FBI director, who previously served as deputy attorney general in George W. Bush's administration before President Barack Obama appointed him to his current position, donated to the presidential campaigns of John McCain in 2008 and Mitt Romney in 2012.

Should be interesting when all the facts come out.  Also, this is being reported, which could also be bull:

 NBC News reporter Tom Winter said that there are 3 emails under review and that none of them were previously withheld from investigators by Clinton or her campaign.

“NEW: NBC’s Pete Williams reports that the e-mails Comey announced today were NOT originally withheld by Clinton or campaign,” he said.

Hmm.  That's going to be difficult to make anything out of.  Specially since she turned the three over already, with the FBI already reviewing them.

Which really makes it look like this whole thing is pure politics.

@Scutter

Maybe they can get an arrest warrant for Weiner for having Top Secret State Dept files on  his private computer when he doesn't work for the State Dept OR have a security clearance to read them?

After all,they have his own wife issue a statement that computer belongs to him,not her.

I suspect Weiner would have some REALLY interesting things to say about his wife and her love bunny if he suddenly found himself facing espionage charges.

Any investigator is going to reopen a case when they think they may have new evidence, ESPECIALLY in one that no charges were filed. Comey also stated, "Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case."
