Looks like truck drivers might be made obsolete after all.

One of my clients has a long haul trucking business - about 60 drivers. He was at a trade show and came back and said self driving trucks for long haul , not local  will be the norm in 10 years or less and that was a year or so ago

...ottos-self-driving-semi-truck-made-beer-run...

Glad to see it was something useful rather than just a publicity stunt.

Now if they will get these in a smaller version to deliver at 1 am on Saturday night out on the home front...

The truck was hauling Bud? Bleh. It may as well have had a Tesla cruise control style accident.

I hate to be a Ludite, but where do these workers go that will be replaced by the new technology?

It sure looks like the new Rat mantra will be "GBI" (guaranteed basic income) in ten years or so. I'm sure the folks at the top will be fine with it as long as the "masses" don't get out of line.

Nowhere, yet. Legally the trucks still require a human onboard, as does the technology.

Not a fan of self driving cars. Am a fan of palindromes.

Or an older dog or cat. They're true love❤️

At some point that won't be the case. Self service checkouts eliminated 3 of 4 cashiers. Eventually, the trucks will only be required to be monitored from a different location.
