The US Air Force's (USAF) Hanscom Air Force Base is working on the modernisation of its air surveillance and defence system.

The Battle Control Systems Fixed (BCS-F) provides an air picture for North America and allows air battle managers to execute command-and-control missions by taking multiple sources of data and assigns them different values such as calculating position and displaying on the operator's screen.

The planned project includes processing of new data sets such as the automatic dependent surveillance broadcast (ADS-B).

Tactical display framework and functions such as alerts and track history will also be upgraded, as part of the project.
