Why Clinton went for the kill

Hillary Clinton’s strategy at the last debate was to finish off Donald Trump.

Instead of playing it safe, with a big lead in polls, Clinton went for the kill, say surrogates for the Democratic presidential nominee.

She was aggressive throughout the 90-minute matchup, going after Trump on everything from his statements about women to immigration, the issue at the center of his campaign.

She ridiculed Trump for exporting jobs, mocked his use of Chinese steel in building projects, warned he would be a puppet of Russian President Vladimir Putin, and corrected him when he said he had not insulted the looks of women accusing him of sexual transgressions, using his own words against him.

It was a surprising performance from a politician routinely labeled as safe to a fault.

It comes as Clinton is making a concerted effort to win traditionally Republican states such as Arizona, Utah and Georgia, which are all in play thanks to Trump’s weak stretch on the campaign trail. Underscoring the effort, first lady Michelle Obama, arguably the campaign’s most powerful surrogate, will speak in Phoenix on Thursday for Clinton.

Sending the first lady to a red state a little more than two weeks from Election Day and coming out firing at Trump at the debate are part of the same plan, say Clinton allies and Democratic observers. She wants to win big.

“She wants a big mandate,” said Democratic strategist Brad Bannon, who is not connected to the Clinton campaign.

“She just doesn’t want to win, she wants to win big to establish a mandate. The more electoral and popular votes, the merrier.”

Many people expected Clinton to coast on Wednesday night in Las Vegas.

Mandate???    **nononono*

No freaking way, not when she is trusted by only a third of the country. She may have the Senate, but it won't be cloture proof.

She may think she has an EC mandate, but her popular vote will be less than 45%. Trump could still pull it out, if the media piles on for two more weeks.  World events could intrude on to her little celebration, too.

Interesting. In regards to Hillary's debate last night three things stick in my mind; she hasn't a clue as to what the true function of the SCOTUS is supposed to be, her strange outbursts of laughter several times and how she looks when she lies.

Hillary didn't kill him.

He was already dead.

Nothing Trump can do now but watch the polls move higher in Hillary's direction.  The bandwagon effect is now in play, with voters who were merely iffy about Trump giving up on him and voting for Hillary.

This could easily be a double digit loss.

Fact of the matter is the DEMS managed to register millions of new voters, the media is in her corner and the only pile on I see coming will be on Trump.

The real question is: what does she look like when she ISN'T lying?

The majority of the country (including those who don't vote) will be so relieved to have Trump's ugly mug off their screens every night they'll give Hillary a break for a while.

Ted Cruz didn't win Iowa, he stole it. That is why all of the polls were so wrong and why he got far more votes than anticipated. Bad!

Based on the fraud committed by Senator Ted Cruz during the Iowa Caucus, either a new election should take place or Cruz results nullified.
