DOE/PR/Parents/Politics etc

Oct 13, 2016 by Ron Isaac EducationViews Contributor

Which is bigger,–the percentage of nitrogen in the air or the proportion of nitrogenous waste produced by the Department of Education’s official reports and press releases?

Like all government agencies, the DOE’s primary mission is political in nature. It’s unrealistic to expect any other calculations to come first.

Parents should keep that in mind.  They should not take school report cards, quality reviews, surveys, or most other communications overly seriously or at “face value.”

If they really want to get a sense of their children’s education, they must ignore most of the fad-tainted jargon, drivel about testing, standards, evaluation and curriculum. They must do the same for the pseudo-philosophy about “pedagogy”, the sophistry-studded shell-game about “frameworks”, various other buzz-words and even the hastily-drawn implications of suspension and graduation rates.
