Trump on Clinton: 'I can be nastier than she ever can be'
« on: October 01, 2016, 05:13:35 am »
Washington (CNN)Donald Trump is turning up the heat on his attacks against Hillary Clinton about her husband's past infidelities after a rocky week for his campaign.

"She's nasty," Trump told The New York Times in an interview published Friday night, "but I can be nastier than she ever can be."

The comments were part of a wide ranging interview in which Trump also touched upon his marriages, his recent late-night Twitter rant and his performance at the first presidential debate.

"Hillary Clinton was married to the single greatest abuser of women in the history of politics," Trump told The Times. "Hillary was an enabler, and she attacked the women who Bill Clinton mistreated afterward. I think it's a serious problem for them, and it's something that I'm considering talking about more in the near future."

Those of us who remember the 1980 election very well remember the happy warrior that was Reagan. At the same time, he had no problem defining the Democratic Party and, more specifically, Carter.

That's why those of us who remember that election get a chuckle out of those that claim he's the next Reagan.

Yep. Reagan was the complete opposite of Trump and I witnessed it first hand yet I'm constantly told how he's the next Reagan... It's pathetic.

I remember the 1976 Reagan campaign.  Ford was a tool, but Reagan was respectful.

Donald Trump is nothing like Ronald Reagan and never will be.

While I don't disagree with his assertions, the issue will backfire on him. After the beauty queen kerfuffle, this issue will cost him, and the worst part is that his own comments toward women have made it toxic.

Yep, it looks like he's driving the final nails into his sham, stalking horse candidacy.  At least the next few weeks should be mildly entertaining.

Hang in there. Besides, the way things are going, being clear headed might be important for survival.

I think the problem (or one of them) is.... that in Trump World, being nasty is an asset and calling someone nasty is a compliment.  Trump is just doing his usual thing of bragging about how much more nasty HE can be than anyone else.  He's an idiot, IOW.

Luckily, I don't drink any less either, so I'll have a few on your behalf.

I told my brother the otherday that this election has made me take to the bottle.  He said that I have always imbibed.
Which is true..... but from cans.

Hopefully something happens in the next week to take the spotlight off Lil' Donny. Maybe HIllary will rip a fart on live TV.

Trump thinks attacking Hillary with Bill's infidelities and the way that she acted toward the women who slept with him is a good idea and it will help him gain support with women voters.

Let's take politics out of this for a second. Forget that she is Hillary Clinton.

Are women in general likely to feel more empathy toward Hillary, the betrayed wife, or less?

Are women in general going to identify with Hillary, the betrayed wife lashing out at the other women in her husband's life, or less?

Are women in general going to support the man berating and humiliating the woman who was forced to publicly suffer through the humiliation of her husband's infidelities and in spite of that managed to keep her family together?

Non-politically active women may very well see Trump as a bully and a heartless scumbag for bringing this issue into the campaign for personal gain, and because if that emotionally support Hillary and detest Trump the way that they would detest a neighbor who spreads gossip about their husband's infidelity through the neighborhood. They may even wish that they would have the guts to do to those neighbors and what Hillary did those those women with whom their husband slept with.

This man is an idiot.

Women are fools and idiots. Romney was basically the anti-Trump and he didn't win women over either.

@Luis Gonzalez

If memory serves, didn't her poll numbers rise whenever Bill's infidelities went public?

I think if this keeps up, you will see many in the public eye either un-endorse outright or just stay silent and stop supporting Trump.
He's had one campaign official in Florida already resign.

They did.  And they did because the Republicans jumped offside thinking that people (and women) would be outraged.  In fact, they were outraged that the Republicans dragged them through the muck of Clinton's infidelities.  They took Hillary's side and stayed with her throughout.

This will blow up in Trump's face.  I'm sure hoping it does.
