If I were a billionaire who built a starship, I think I'd try to keep it a secret for a while.

Maybe a good plot for a story of some sort.

Not a bad idea.. However, it is kinda hard to hide a starship..

Note to self: Find a way to travel back in time (22 years) and tell myself to invest in Microsoft, Apple, and Google..  Also, if SpaceX is going public I'm investing.

Well in Star Trek, the most famous spirits are Romulan Ale, Saurian Brandy, and Andorian Ale. So we shall see what kind of adult beverages the aliens has, provided they are friendly.

Okay, deeper story idea

A scienstist has developed the technology to make a starship real in secret. He buys a decommissioned submarine as "scrap" but instead of scrapping it, he reconditions it and installs his technologies while gathering a skeleton crew necessary to operate the proto-type vessel.

hide a starship.... in a relatively isolated shipyard...

maybe... maybe not....
