Five days before the 2008 election, candidate Barack Obama told an enthusiastic crowd of supporters, “We are five days away from fundamentally transforming the United States of America.” Those prophetic words have been realized over the last eight years in more ways than one. The latest example is a judge he appointed in Washington who removed “so help me God” from the end of the naturalization oath for new citizens.
