The average Russian drives drunk almost every day. If they ever did an alcohol checkpoint over there, the rate would be well over 90%, if not 100%.
It took me a while to acclimate to the idea that many nations in the world consider drinking at work, and while on the road to be normal. It is not a preferable thing for someone to do, but it is not really a big deal like in America.
You can smell vodka in the air just walking near a Russian tenement. Drinking is a way of life.
