On eve of defining British EU referendum, rivals race for final votes

British Prime Minister David Cameron and his eurosceptic opponents made final pitches for wavering voters on Wednesday on the eve of a defining referendum on European Union membership with the outcome still too close to call.....

Any time frame on when the vote ends and when they expect final results?  Polls show GB is going to stay in the EU.  I'm hoping for an upset here.

Polls open in 2 1/2 hours at 07:00 and close at 22:00.

The very first results are normally about 90 minutes later, and the count is normally finished by 06:00. This might be quicker as it's a simple yes/no vote. Faster to count.

I will repeat something - do NOT trust polling in the UK, other than the actual vote itself. We're quite private people and messing with pollsters and talking heads is something of a national pastime.

Far as I can see, it's a dead heat. 50 for exit and 50 against it, spread pretty evenly, not along the usual class lines.

I'm poll watching today, jut nipped home for lunch.

No idea how the vote is going nationally, but our station had a queue of about 40 people waiting to vote when polls opened at 7. We're a "trades" area, so most of them were builders on their way to work. Processed them quickly, they don't like to be kept waiting, then for the next 2 hours it was a steady 5 to 10 people a minute.About 11 we caught a bit of a gap, and since the council rep had rolled up to check, we got our votes in while there was him there to certify it was legit.

Expecting it to pick up again about 15:00 - it's a miserable day so any of the outside workers locally will be knocking off early and swinging by to vote before hitting the pub, and the school run is always a busy time too.

Here's hoping the Britts rid themselves of the EU. I doubt they have enough actual Englishmen left/and those remaining have it in them but hope springs eternal.

Only in the mind of the Trump Militant would his Fascism be seen as "liberty".

Brexit Poll Suggests U.K. Will Remain in EU With 52 Support

Thursday, 23 Jun 2016 06:17 PM

Early polls suggest voters in Britain appear to have chosen to remain in the European Union, but the margin is razor-thin in the crucial referendum, and officials vote totals aren't expected until Friday.
In a tweet Thursday afternoon, the AP reports "Conservative lawmakers urge UK's prime minister to stay; British pound surges on news of 'remain' vote."

After Scotland's recent vote, it makes sense the status quo would prevail. Still that is very close.

Our vote is akin to 1933.

FYI. In 1932 Hindenburg and FDR were elected.

Hitler was appointed Chancellor, in 1933, NOT elected.

Led a separate campaign to do what?  (I'm guessing exit, since it's Farage, but not sure what you mean.)

Sorry for the delay. Last minute rush at the polling station - trying to get over 100 people checked and vote completed with 6 minutes to go to close of polls. Wore me out, so when I got home I just corked out.

Nigel Farrage is one I'm never sure what the hell he's on about. His ability with mixed messages makes Trump look a model of concise speech.

However, I think what your friend meant was that UKIP ran their own exit campaign in isolation, rather than doing as the others did and linking in with the general campaign for exit. Which is a huge pity - I'd have paid good money to see Farage and BoJo on the same stage.
