Field of American FlagsEarlier this week, Pinal County, Arizona, Sheriff Paul Babeu, warned families and hikers traveling this Memorial Day weekend to be cautious. Intelligence suggests rival Mexican cartels have hired assassins to roam across the border and settle scores with one another. As many residents of Pinal County will be taking part in the long holiday weekend, Sheriff Babeu cautions citizens to arm themselves for their own protection.

In a new release, the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office states, “Sheriff Babeu has been made aware of the high probability that Mexican Drug Cartels are sending ‘Sicarios,’ groups of professional assassins to confront and kill rival ‘rip-crews’ who are stealing their drugs during transit along smuggling corridors in and around Pinal County. Recent intelligence reports say Mexican drug cartels have hired armed groups of men to guard drug loads travelling from the US-Mexico International Border to the Phoenix area, a significant part of those routes running through Pinal County.”

The purpose of Memorial Day is to honor the fallen veterans who valiantly fought and died for the freedom and sovereignty of our nation. It seems ironic citizens engaging in recreational activities this Memorial weekend are now heeding the advice of local law enforcement to bear arms because the federal government refuses to enforce immigration laws thereby allowing illegal aliens to continuously invade our sovereign lands.

In another statement Sheriff Babeu explains, “We here in the Pinal County Sheriff’s office have brought a very heavy hand of enforcement against, largely the Sinaloa Cartel who believes they control this area.”

Yes. You read that right. The Sinaloa Cartel believes they control an entire area in one of our states.

pinal_smuggling_signWhile cartels and illegal aliens flood the border, one might ponder what exactly is the president doing to protect the sovereignty of our borders and American citizens? If you think the answer is to crack down on cross-border criminals then you are mistaken. Instead, the Obama Administration thinks placing a few signs throughout federal lands will do the trick. But wait, it gets better: The signs are not even to deter criminals. Instead they are a warning to citizens to be wary of illegal immigration activity for their own safety

Arizona sheriff to Memorial Day travelers: Pack a gun and beware of cartel hitmen

An Arizona sheriff says that there is so much Mexican drug cartel activity in the state’s western desert that anyone who travels to the area this Memorial Day weekend should be armed and vigilant.

Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu sent a warning to campers, hikers and travelers that they should be on alert in case they get caught between rival drug gangs.

"We have communication that shows that there is hitmen being sent up to Pinal County," Babeu said in a press conference.

The Sheriff said anyone using back roads, campsites and trails should consider carrying a firearm.

“We have a Second Amendment freedom and right, and I encourage everyone to be armed, to be properly trained,” Sheriff Babeu said in an interview on Hannity on the Fox News Channel Thursday night.

The news is just as valid but then one sees, "Oh, it was on Hannity"; news we should know about and a stunning headline actually.

I think people have posted pictures before of signs in that area of the country that say something like "Be careful", I forget what exactly, maybe "don't pick up hitchhikers."

Did Babeu warn of cartels to help fund his race for Congress?

A day after Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu advised Memorial Day travelers to pack a gun because of recent incidents involving drug cartels, his congressional campaign sent a fundraising email citing those official warnings.

"I don't enjoy advising Arizona residents to be armed and protect themselves when they want to enjoy all that our state has to offer -- but rival cartels, assassins and rip crews have made that the reality," Babeu's campaign message said, linking to a conservative website's account of his Monday news conference  at sheriff's headquarters.

"With the situation escalating it becomes more important to win, to change our weak border policy ... to send a Sheriff to Congress!" the email continued, asking supporters for "$10, $20, $50, or more" and sending supporters to a website where they could donate to his campaign for the 1st District.

Two Democratic sheriffs in border counties said they knew of no intelligence signaling heightened danger. And they have issued no recent warnings. Pinal County is miles from the U.S.-Mexico line but serves as a pass-through for smuggling.
