I keep hearing Ted Cruz conservatives dissing Donald Trump. I keep seeing the idiotic slogan #NeverTrump. I have a message for all of you: Stop your whining and childish hissy fits. Stop the distortions of Trump’s record. Of course Trump is better than Hillary. Of course all Republicans need to unite behind Trump. Of course he’s a conservative. I’ll prove it to you.

1. Trump isn’t just conservative. On important issues, he’s the most conservative Presidential candidate since Ronald Reagan.
2016 Election Headquarters

2. Trump is the perfect candidate to lead the conservative movement.

3. Trump is our generation’s Reagan.

How do I come to these conclusions?

First, remember the famous saying “the enemy of my enemy is my friend.” Please stop saying Trump isn’t a conservative. He may not be a “pure” or perfect conservative. On that I agree. But his views on the important issues of our day drive liberals into fits of rage and insanity.

Being Jewish, Ivy League educated and in the television and entertainment industries my whole life, I know a thing or two about liberals. I’ve spent my whole life in liberal circles: Manhattan, Malibu, Hollywood, Columbia and Harvard. The last person I saw despised this much by liberals was Ronald Reagan. The similarities are remarkable. My hero Reagan drove liberals batty. He drove them into fits of apoplectic rage. Today I see the same reaction to Trump.

Liberals hate Trump with such rage that they want to hurt him. They want to ruin him. They even openly want to see him assassinated. Or haven’t you seen the thousands of online and social media comments from liberals hoping Trump gets shot? Or haven’t you seen the cemetery headstone “R.I.P. Donald Trump” put up in New York’s Central Park?

Liberals call Trump the same names and descriptions as they used to call Reagan. They say he’s an intellectual lightweight, clown, racist, extreme, stupid, ignorant, unqualified to be President, and of course, we can never allow his finger near the nuclear button. Don’t forget “Hitler and Nazi.” The exact same words that my ultra-liberal classmates at Columbia used to describe Reagan.

folks Donald Trump is a conservative. No, not a pure or perfect conservative. But on the issues that count most, he’ll be the most conservative president since Reagan.

How can I be so sure? Just mention Trump’s name to any liberal and watch their reaction.

So, the test of Conservatism is liberals' reaction / opinion?

That's an unusual standard. If it makes liberals mad, it must be conservative? Nothing about principles or philosophy?

Reactionary claptrap.

Nope.  Trump is not this generation's Reagan.

He's this generation's Huey Long.

He's more like Crassus of Rome...

Quote
Crassus grew up as the son of a consul and distinguished general.

His career to fame and phenomenal wealth began as he started purchasing the houses of Sulla's victims. Had Sulla confiscated all their belongings he sold them off cheap. And Crassus bought and made sensational profits when selling them on.

Using his wealth he also kept a troop of 500 slaves, all skilled builders, on stand-by. He would then simply wait for one of Rome's frequent fires to break out and would then offer to buy the burning properties, as well as the endangered neighbouring buildings. Using his team of builders he would then rebuild the area and keep it to draw income from rent, or sell it on with a large profit. At one point Crassus was said even to own most of the city of Rome. There was no doubt some who wondered, if some of the fires started in Rome might not actually have been his doing.

But Crassus was not a man to be content with being extremely rich. Power was just as desirable to him as money. He used his wealth to raise his own army and supported Sulla on his return from the east.
His money bought him the favour among many political friends and he therefore enjoyed great influence in the senate.

If anything we are more trustworthy than trump worshippers because we have articulated a set of principles, applied those principles to the facts, and come to the conclusion that trump simply falls too far outside those principles.  We believe words matter and we've expressed our positions.  We can be taken at our word, which means we can be trusted.

It is the trump worshippers who cannot be trusted because they let blind spite, fear and desperation guide them instead of considered thought and they worship a man for whom words do not matter, for whom - like Humpty Dumpty - words mean what you privately, subjectively decide they mean at any given moment and, being subjective, the meaning can change willynilly to suit his ulterior motives.

A man for whom words do not matter cannot be trusted, because you never know if what he says has its accepted public meaning, or some different, private, subjective meaning.  You also cannot trust someone who follows and worships a man for whom words have no meaning.

In short, it is Trump and his worshippers who cannot be trusted. #NeverTrump can be trusted because our words matter and we stick by our principles even if it means being subjected to ridicule and derision (and zotting in some places).

I Regret Voting For Donald Trump

APRIL 19, 2016 By Grant Stinchfield

Donald Trump is off the rails. He is a train wreck. It’s not just his antics and childish behavior that has me so put off, it’s his failure to improve as a candidate.

After nine months on the campaign trail, I expected Trump to fully grasp the issues and have in-depth policy solutions to our problems. Yet he still is “winging it.” He has failed to surround himself with top-notch, respected experts to craft a legitimate conservative platform. The reality is now clear: Trump has no depth, and he fails to grasp even the most basic conservative principles.

I fell victim to my own hatred. Donald Trump offered me a vehicle to stick it to the bloviating bureaucrats I despise. I dedicated my life to exposing self-promoting career politicians and their love of big government programs. Trump was the guy who was going to scare the hell out of the “establishment,” the guy who was going to turn Washington on its head. So I voted with anger in my heart. I gave my vote to Trump with expectation he would find his way by putting smart constitutional conservatives by his side. Trump didn’t find his way; he got lost.

I fell victim to my own hatred. Donald Trump offered me a vehicle to stick it to the bloviating bureaucrats I despise.

Sadly, I did exactly what my mother always warned me not to do. I made an important decision while in an emotionally fragile state of anger and despair. My vote for Trump amounted to a vendetta against the ruling class of DC career politicians. I made a mistake.

It’s why I am publicly apologizing to governors Rick Perry and Scott Walker. I abandoned them way too early. I now realize their level-headed grasp on conservative values and principles would have made them the perfect candidates to carry a torch of limited government straight into the White House.

Governor Perry, Governor Walker: I am sorry. The worst part  I fear it’s too late. Can anyone save the Republican Party? Can Donald Trump save himself? I can only say I hope so, but there are no guarantees.

Make no mistake; I will vote for whoever the Republican nominee is. I hope other conservatives follow my lead. Even a maniacal Trump would be better than a criminally charged Hillary Clinton. I have always said that the only way we lose to Hillary is if we sabotage ourselves. It’s amazing to me that’s exactly what we’re doing.

The Never Trump Movement Is Anti-American And Hypocritical

We only have two choices for president. We must pick the better of the two. It really is that simple.

MAY 17, 2016

Far too many of my ultra-conservative colleagues are acting exactly like the party elitists they purport to despise. They didn’t get their way, so they throw a temper tantrum. Let the whining and crying begin. I don’t have time for it. I beg of you, get over it.

I’m tired of reading how the Republican Party is now “screwed.” Another headline warns, “It’s Time to Assume We’re Already Dead.” Give me a break! The Tea Party movement is alive and well here in Texas and beyond.

Ted Cruz lost. Donald Trump won. They both played by the rules. That’s how a campaign works. We have winners and losers. Instead of moving on and backing the chosen nominee, these anti-American Never Trumpers now want to scream and moan about how stupid the American voters are. It’s an arrogant response that sounds eerily similar to John Boehner and Mitch McConnell’s response after the rise of the Tea Party. They even sound like my seven-year-old son when I told him he could not have two cookies. He looked at me and pouted, “Then I don’t want any!”

Stop Being Sore Losers

This goes for you too, Speaker Ryan. You may not like it, but Trump is the boss now. It’s his party to lead. Ryan claims Trump “inherited” the party of Lincoln and Reagan. In reality, Trump won it in decisive fashion. The Never Trumpers like Ryan refuse to talk about reality. Trump has already surpassed 10 million votes. That’s more than Mitt Romney’s primary vote total from 2012 as well as John McCain’s from 2008.

I too see the reality of Trump. He’s no conservative. But right now, he’s all we have.
By the time this contest is over, “The Donald” could surpass 11 million votes, beating George Bush’s 10.8 million vote record set in 2000. Ronald Reagan only got 7.7 million votes in the GOP primary in 1980.

Clearly the GOP voters have spoken. Sadly, they aren’t as conservative as I thought. I too see the reality of Trump. He’s no conservative. But right now, he’s all we have.

Republicans like myself have always been proud of being the party of “the rule of law.” Apparently for Ryan and the Never Trump movement, that changes when they don’t get their way. We held an election; it was a fair contest.

Get Your Eye on the Prize, People

Now Ryan wants Trump to prove his allegiance to the conservative movement. By holding back a full-fledged endorsement, Ryan is actively working to destroy America by helping Hillary Clinton. Ryan wants Trump to kiss his conservative ring and plead for an endorsement. Ryan needs to grow up and stop acting like a spoiled rich kid who didn’t get what he cried for: a nominee like Jeb Bush.

Ryan needs to look at the reality of the situation we now face.

I may not be a huge Trump fan, but he is our presumptive nominee. I, like most conservatives, am not a fan of Ryan either. Trump needs to play hardball with Ryan and “The Establishment.” Trump purports to be a “deal maker.” He needs to realize he is operating from a position of strength, much to the dismay of GOP leadership. Trump and the Ryan Establishment both need each other now more than ever. Trump needs their money and support, they need Trump to win back the White House to help roll back President Obama’s damaging agenda.

After last week’s Trump-Ryan unity summit, Ryan needed to tell GOP voters that he too would vote for Trump. Instead, he played the go-to game for politicians and dodged the issue all together. By not offering his full-fledged support now, Ryan is guilty of a dereliction of duty to ensure Republicans win back the White House. Ryan needs to look at the reality of the situation we now face.

Hillary Is Horrible

Trump is certainly flawed. He’s not my kind of conservative. But he’s no liberal, either. He wants to build a border wall, beef up our military, simplify the tax code, and appoint a “Scalia-like” Supreme Court nominee. Would Hillary Clinton do any of those things? No! We only have two choices for president. We must pick the better of the two. It really is that simple.

My mission is to stop Hillary Clinton. She’s bad for America and our future. These ridiculous Never Trumpers need to get on board the Trump train now. A no vote, or a nonsensical protest vote for someone other than Trump, is a vote for Hillary Clinton. That’s disastrous.

The prospect of a Clinton presidency leaves me losing my patience with Ryan and the leaders of the Never Trump movement. I find them to be arrogant know-it-alls who may be more narcissistic than Trump. They used the Tea Party movement to help them rise to power. Now, just like the Ryan “Establishment,” they seek to control the outcome of the election. They will stop at nothing to get their way. In defeat, they act like spoiled children, not the fighters we need to help rally the conservative troops.

History teaches that the same exact thing took place in Europe in the 30's.  Nothing new under the sun.   Hoffer wrote an excellent book examining mass movements and what happens to a people captivated by demagogues and their sycophants.

Nope.  Trump is not this generation's Reagan.

He's this generation's Huey Long.

In life, there are crooks, confidence men and connivers that you know you ought to despise, but cannot quite bring yourself to fully disdain, because you sense that at the core of their being there remains a flicker of human frailty, a sputtering spark of decency, and a surprising capacity for kindness.

Trump, in my estimation, has none of that. He's an unrepentant, solipsistic bastard without a single redeeming quality. But he does possess the ability to make otherwise intelligent people blind to his flaws. So he has that going for him.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

The guy who wrote this, a card-carrying member of the Libertarian Party for many years, is lecturing us about toeing the GOP line. This is rich.

So, I'm ignoring A-lert, so I can't (won't) see the content of this post, but...

Another day, another threat/plead/argument on why #NeverTrump should change their position and vote for Trump, despite being VERY CLEAR from the beginning that "Never" meant... uh... never.

So, why do these Trumpettes continue to post these threats/pleas/arguments? Because they KNOW they've picked a loser. They know he's a loser who is destined to lose (with small hands). Therefore, the only way they can hope to get him elected is to rally more people to jump on his sinking ship.

But that's not all.

They also feel foolish for selecting this complete a$$h@t as the GOP nominee and now want everyone else to share in the blame. That way, they can later say, "Well, you voted for him too!"

This is why they keep posting this crapola. This is why they are sooooo desperate to convert people to Trumpism. It validates their stupid choice. The fact that smart people aren't rallying around Trump confirms their nagging guilt that they really have picked a giant turd who isn't really conservative at all.

Think I'm wrong? Keep an eye on the forum. Every day you'll see more pathetic entreaties and threats to the #NeverTrump crowd despite their (laughable) insistence that they don't really need us anyway.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!
