The Mantra of #NeverTrump Shall Be This

Excerpt:

#NeverTrump is the belief that if a liberal is going to sit in the oval office, let us not take part in putting them there with our names on their support roster. Let us not let a man for 4 years get up on that bully pulpit and create a mistrust of conservatism that destroys the meager gains we’ve managed.

The party is already destroyed simply by his nomination. #NeverTrump intends to at least salvage conservatism.

The mantra? That’s from Alexander Hamilton and it’s quite apropos.

“If we must have an enemy at the head of Government, let it be one whom we can oppose, and for whom we are not responsible, who will not involve our party in the disgrace of his foolish and bad measures.”

Damn, right.

AG William Barr: "I'm recused from that matter because one of the law firms that represented Epstein long ago was a firm that I subsequently joined for a period of time."

Alexander Acosta Labor Secretary resigned under pressure concerning his "sweetheart deal" with Jeffrey Epstein.  He was under consideration for AG after Sessions was removed, but was forced to resign instead.

I've already started taking note of which Republicans announce their support of Mr. Trump. For instance, Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick here in Texas has announced he will support Mr. Trump. When Dan Patrick comes up for re-election, I will not support him.

As the quote says, "Ye shall know them by their fruits." Support a liar, support a leftist, support a socialist, and you are not worthy of my support.

I am very interested in seeing what Ted Cruz will do now.
Let it burn.

What I find ironic is how so many alleged Republicans won't support other Republican candidates if they support Trump. Isn't that cutting off your nose to spite your face?

Awesome quote. Kudos for posting this. #nevertrump because trump's character is worse than Hillary's. I am looking for a third party conservative to give me someone to vote for.

Me too.  I am not sure that Republicans can be responsible to put forth one we can get behind.

I think that the establishment has misjudged #NeverTrump resolve.

Not only am I never Trump, I just re-registered as an unaffiliated party voter.  Good riddance Republican Party of Trump.

Good for you. I'd do that tomorrow but I like to have a hand in electing the most Conservative people in local elections and we have closed Primaries in PA.

That is a bridge too far for me.  I know some fine people who support Trump.  The choice between supporting Trump and letting Clinton win is painful for me, and I don't begrudge those who have decided that Trump is a marginally better choice.

What is done is done.  Sadly, I think this election proves that conservatism just ain't that popular anymore.

I know some fine people who support Trump.

Really? Are you sure they're fine people?  For me, it's a litmus test: if a person enthusiastically supports Mr. Trump, then I have to question that person's judgement and values.

The choice between supporting Trump and letting Clinton win is painful for me, and I don't begrudge those who have decided that Trump is a marginally better choice.

To my mind, there are levels of support. Saying "I'll support the party's nominee, and if that's Trump then I'll vote for Trump" (as Rick Perry did) is one thing; I might give a pass to that person for that decision. Saying, "I'm all aboard the Trump Train, yahoo!" is different, and to me that kind of support immediately raises a warning flag.

What is done is done.  Sadly, I think this election proves that conservatism just ain't that popular anymore.

You may be right. I think it only gets worse from here.

To clarify, #NeverTrump for me is a personal decision: I will never support or vote for Donald Trump. I only have one vote, and so I have to choose wisely how I spend it. If I see a candidate who is enthusiastically endorsing Donald Trump, that tells me something about that candidate, and in the future I will take that knowledge into consideration when I'm in the voting booth.
Let it burn.

Trump is an unknown quantity as an elected official. I dislike him. Trump has displayed many character flaws in this campaign. But, he will be one of the choices we are offered.

Clinton is evil. She is a known quantity, and is a metaphorical bullet to the head for America as we know it. If Clinton is elected, I guarantee that once her USSC selection is securely in place, that a case will make it's way to the USSC that will require a new interpretation of the 2nd amendment.

It is not an easy choice, but I'll vote Trump, only because Clinton is just so darn evil.

Clinton is a known quantity. We know her attitude and feelings about the 2nd Amendment, the military, Benghazi and social issues.

Trump is pro 2nd Amendment, will secure our borders and see to it the we have a well equipped and well cared for military. He is supported by many intelligent people.
