Trump: US soldiers 'afraid to fight' because of Geneva Convention
By Rick Moran

What a day for Donald Trump yesterday, eh? He took three different positions on abortion in 3 hours. There was continuing controversey over the battery charges against his top aide.

And to top the day off, Trump said that US soldiers were "afraid to fight" because of the Geneva Convention.

The Hill:

“The problem is we have the Geneva Conventions, all sorts of rules and regulations, so the soldiers are afraid to fight,” Trump said at a campaign event in Appleton, Wis., less than a week before the state's primary.

Trump has repeatedly called for the use of enhanced interrogation techniques and last week, in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Brussels, said he would authorize any means necessary for interrogating terror suspects, including waterboarding.

“We can’t waterboard, but [the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria] can chop off heads,” the celebrity businessman said on Wednesday.

Trump is in a tight race against Ted Cruz in the Badger State. Cruz leads the GOP front-runner by 3 points, according to RealClearPolitics poll average. A Marquette Law School poll released Wednesday found Cruz with a 10-point lead.

The idea that American soldiers "fear" violating the rules of war is ludicrous. More to the point, the Uniform Military Code of Justice mirrors most of the Geneva articles. Does Trump want to toss the UMCJ as well?

Trump is unfit to lead a corporal's guard, much less be commander in chief. The rank and file should fear a Trump presidency far more than they are frightened of going into combat because of the Geneva Convention.

It isn't that they are afraid to fight because of the Geneva Convention, its because of the administrations willingness to allow it to be manipulated, and let others manipulate it, against the troops.

It isn't the Geneva Convention, we've been fighting under that successfully for over a century (the first treaty was 1864, the fourth was 1949). It is the lawyers as of late and politicians running the military instead of letting the military do what it needs to.  It isn't they are 'afraid to fight' also, it is the layers of bureaucracy they have to go through to be able to complete their mission.

The military is completely capable of winning under all the Geneva Convention terms, which are not unreasonable.

The more he talks, the more obvious it is that he is completely ignorant, about EVERYTHING.
Character still matters.  It always matters.

I wear a mask as an exercise in liberty and love for others.  To see it as an infringement of liberty is to entirely miss the point.  Be kind.
