CNN/WMUR Poll: Trump Leads NH by 17 Points
Sunday, February 7, 2016 09:38 AM

By: Greg Richter

Businessman Donald Trump is holding his lead in New Hampshire two days before that state's primary, ahead 17 points of his nearest competitor in the latest CNN/WMUR tracking poll.

Trump's lead had dropped to 11 points after his second-place finish in the Iowa caucuses. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio is still in second place in New Hampshire, though his advantage over Texas Sen. Ted Cruz is lower.

Here are the latest results from likely Republican voters:

    Donald Trump: 33 percent
    Marco Rubio: 16 percent
    Ted Cruz: 14 percent
    John Kasich: 11 percent
    Jeb Bush: 7 percent
    Carly Fiorina: 6 percent
    Chris Christie: 4 percent
    Ben Carson: 2 percent

According to CNN, the poll was completed just as the GOP debate was beginning on Saturday night, so the results do no reflect respondents' impressions of the candidates from the debate.

The poll was conducted February 3-6 and talked to 362 people who say they will vote in the Republican presidential primary. The margin of error is plus-or-minus 5.2 percent.

It looks like Trump will carry a victory to South Carolina.  Rubio, Kasich and Cruz are fighting for second place.  Cruz is hoping that Bush, Christie, Kasich and Rubio can beat each other up enough that he can sneak through to a second place finish.

Poll: Trump’s lead grows in NH days before primary

February 07, 2016

Thirty-three percent of likely Republican primary voters said they support Trump, giving the billionaire a 17-point lead over his closest GOP rival. Trump gained 5 points from a similar tracking poll last week.

Trump now has more than double the support of Sen. Marco Rubio, who came in second with 16 percent support.

Sen. Ted Cruz has 14 percent for third place.

Gov. John Kasich follows with 11 percent, while no other GOP candidate broke single-digit support.

The poll, according to CNN, was completed as Saturday’s debate in New Hampshire started.

The poll of 362 likely Republican primary voters was conducted by the University of New Hampshire Survey Center by telephone from Feb. 3-6. The margin of error is 5.2 points.

Same poll this many days out of the Iowa caucus. Trump leads with 31% while Cruz has 24%, giving Trump a larger margin over the Texas senator than he had a week ago. Florida Sen. Marco Rubio has 17%.

And we all know how that turned out.   Nothing is holding steady as the people actually make their decision. Trump may still take NH, but I think it will be a single digit spread.

Psychological projection, also known as blame shifting, is a theory in psychology in which humans defend themselves against their own unpleasant impulses by denying their existence while attributing them to others.[1] For example, a person who is rude may constantly accuse other people of being rude.

I listened to it all, and watched from around midway. Trump did nothing to hurt himself, but Rubio probably hurt himself with the repeats.

Carson does not appear Presidential. When he speaks, he closes his eyes. Very distracting and not a sign of having all his stuff together. At this time, he is a token.

Don't count out Cruz finishing second, which will be a big boost for him considering he was expected to be 4th or worse.

When Dr. Carson finally drops out, where will his support go?

I reckon it will split about 50-50 between Mr. Trump and Senator Cruz.

I doubt that ANYone who currently favors Dr. Carson would shift towards the GOPe crowd ...

A "token" what?
