That horn section was hot. Tower of Power were on my path toward the appreciation of jazz, and I'm 64. Gulp.

Rest in peace, dude. Maybe there's an opening with Gabriel's crew.

Veteran comic actor Leslie Nielsen, star of Airplane! and The Naked Gun, has died at the age of 84.

He died in hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was being treated for pneumonia, his agent John S Kelly said.

Canadian-born Nielsen started out as a serious actor but in 1980, his role as a hapless doctor in the disaster spoof film Airplane! made him a comic star.

In all, he appeared in more than 100 films and had a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

"With his friends and his wife by his side, he just fell asleep and passed away," his nephew Doug Nielsen told the AFP news agency.

He died five years ago.

Godfather actor Abe Vigoda dies at the age of 94 in New York... also starred on TV's Barney Miller for eight years

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-3417924/Godfather-actor-Abe-Vigoda-dies-age-94-New-York-starred-TV-s-Barney-Miller-eight-years.html

Quote
Abe Vigoda has died at the age of 94 at his nursing home in New York.

TMZ shared the news on Tuesday, just hours after the star's passing, and noted it was not a hoax. It has been falsely claimed many times in the past that the character actor has died.

The icon was best known for his role on the TV classic Barney Miller. He also played Tessio in the first two Godfather films.

lets see if this is correct?

The internet has been declaring Abe dead every few years  for the last 20 years.
I guess one of these times they will be correct.  :(

http://www.tmz.com/2016/01/26/abe-vigoda-dead/

Legendary actor Abe Vigoda -- who starred in "The Godfather" -- died under hospice care at the age of 94 ... TMZ has learned.

Abe's death had been falsely reported countless times, dating all the way back to 1982.

Abe played Tessio in "The Godfather" and also "The Godfather Part II." In fact, he was still doing the voice for Tessio in 'Godfather' video games as late as 2007.

His most famous role on TV was as Detective Phil Fish on the '80s sitcom "Barney Miller" ... which once worked the infamous hoax reports of Abe's death into a storyline.

Anyone checked on Generalissimo Franco lately?

Looks like Vigoda was still acting. Good for him.

Sorry to hear that. He was a great character actor. I can just hear him negotiating with St. Peter: "Can you get me off the hook, for old time's sake?" RIP.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Paul Kantner, Jefferson Airplane/Starship guitarist, dies at 74

Kantner was one of the founding members of Jefferson Airplane when it formed in 1965. When the band began to splinter, he led the effort to reform a spin-off group, which became Jefferson Starship, a band that continued to record well into the 1970s. A counterculture rock purist, Kantner quit his creation in 1980 and accused his fellow bandmates of selling out; taking the Jefferson name with him, the band was left to record as Starship (under which name it made some of its most commercially successful yet critically derided recordings). Kantner was the father of actress China Kantner, the end result of an extended affair with vocalist Grace Slick.

Kantner died of a combination of various health problems stemming from a heart attack in March 2015.
