I dislike Obama immensely. He has set back race relations in my opinion.
But police use of power is not race alone. In Fullerton California white police murdered a mentally ill homeless white guy. Filmed it. Tried it in court and the police got away with it, sadly.
Simply put, the police need better training, better weaponry and better methods.
This guy posed no danger to those cops. Only one shot, while the others did not fire. The cop that shot him, should not have been serving, plain and simple.
I was in an AA meeting less than a year ago, along with a guy who is in private security (former E8 US Army Special Forces).
A homeless mentally ill lady poured hot coffee on this guy from behind. I witnessed the entire incident. He was initially shocked, but remained calm. He did not hit her or scream or anything. He evaluated the situation and instantly knew he was not in danger. He later gave the police a report, and helped the hall to get rid of her.
Compare that with the cop, who should have been able to evaluate the situation, and instantly know he was not in danger.
We shouldn't have to go through incidents like this. Black or white, we should feel confident that our police will not gun us down out of unjustified fear.
