Sweden: 8 out of 10 police officers considering quitting

In the middle of a refugee crisis and with raised terror threat, alarming figures show that a mass exodus from the Swedish police could be looming.

As many as 8 out of 10 police officers have been thinking about resigning, shows a new survey. The main reasons are low wages and the ongoing reorganization.

Police have since January this year, worked in a new, combined organization instead of 21 local authorities. But the new organization is not especially welcomed. The employees are unhappy with both the working conditions and the low pay.

A survey the Police Federation commissioned, shows that as many as 8 out of 10 police officers have been thinking about resigning.

60 percent said they thought about resigning because of low wages, and 40 percent said they thought about resigning because of the reorganization.

- These are very serious numbers and both national police chief Dan Eliasson and Minister Anders Ygeman should listen to our members' frustration, says Lena Nitz, chairman of the Police Federation to Swedish Television.

- Right now with the influx of refugees, increased terrorism and all serious crime, this needs be our focus, and efficiency around this. Then it is impossible to implement such a large reorganization of this size, with all the other demands we have to cope with, says Lena Nitz to STV.

A total of 20,051 people were employed by the Swedish police by the start of last year, but 300 police officers have quit the job in the past 18 months and 110 the first six months of this year, according to Sveriges Radio.

So if the police gets micronized, put in the army?

Army, what army?

Where is Henning Mankell, when we need him?   Will Wallander show up just in time, sober?

How do small countries like Sweden Norway, Switzerland have relatively large impacts upon history?

Are the people genetically or culturally superior?

Sweden is proud of a history of over 200 years staying out of wars, the first half of such period was in union with Norway.

I predict they will weather today's challenges.

I predict that Sweden is a dead nation, walking.
