Tens of thousands of anti-austerity demonstrators are protesting in Manchester as the Conservative party conference gets underway.
While the protests have mostly been peaceful, two people were arrested and one young delegate was pictured covered in egg after an alleged attack.
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond and Defence Secretary Michael Fallon are among those speaking at the conference's opening day.

Tory conference: More arrests amid 'spitting' claims
Four arrests have been made after politicians, journalists and delegates entering the Conservative conference in Manchester were subjected to abusive chants and allegedly spat at.
A series of journalists claimed they had been spat at outside the conference centre in the city, though it was made clear that those responsible were a minority of the 60,000 police said had attended.

Chief Superintendent John O'Hare of Greater Manchester Police said: "Today around 60,000 people took part in a demonstration and I would like to thank them for their cooperation.
"The overwhelming majority of people have exercised their democratic right to protest with dignity and good grace.
"The fact that only four arrests have been made throughout the day so far was particularly pleasing."
