FYI.....
« on: October 04, 2015, 02:35:38 pm »
Have been thinking a lot about some of my dearest friends cultivated over many, many years here and on TOS that deplore the idea of a Donald Trump nomination. I wish you all to know that I totally respect all the differences of opinions.

It's not the first time that I've found myself on the opposite side of an issue with some of you.  Elian Gonzalez and Terry Schiavo come to mind.  But I digress....

As far as other members whom I haven't had the luxury of time to get to 'know' each other, you should know that I normally don't deliver ad hominems, except when responding to one toward me or my opinion.

Same as any 'normal' person would do, I would imagine.

Would like everyone here to understand where I'm coming from when it comes to Donald Trump as a viable candidate.

I wouldn't hesitate to vote for Donald Trump, regardless of his positions on social issues.  Don't give a damn about social positions of the GOP Nominee, because it's my contention that the coming majority-GOP House and Senate will hold the winner of the election in check.  At least for the first two years of the administration.  And we have all seen what can happen with a super majority of one party.   Obamacare anyone?

There are 95 MILLION Americans gone from the work force.  52% of women are unemployed.

95% of college graduates today may as well wipe their asses with their degrees.  So "Social Issues" can take a walk, IMO.

Just want everyone to consider what we have going on today.

The Democratic Party may as well be called the Communist Party.

They've had plenty of time to disprove that charge.  Instead, they apparently seem to embrace it.

So....you either vote Republican or you're essentially sanctioning Communist-type federal government rule with a 'Pravda' media complex.

Look at the rest of the GOP field please.  PLEASE!!

If Mitt Romney couldn't win, who among the stable of today's candidates could do better?  Ted Cruz?  Ben Carson?  Gimme a break.

Accomplishments and a blue-ribbon resume have proven to mean squat.  Romney was perfect for the time...after four nightmarish years of Barack Obama and Valerie Jarrett?   Are you serious?

Every one of the GOP candidates will get BURIED in the general.  EVERYONE of them except one.

He's the one who has thrown away the politically correct mindset in order to reach a majority of American voters.  I'm confident he's done this on purpose.  A year out?   Outrageous rhetoric finds the spotlight.  The spotlight enables one to get their word out.  He's a master of manipulating the media....been doing it for a decade or more.

So...it's either Donald Trump or an acceptance of more of the same which Obama is feeding us.  The Democratic Party is anti Constitution and anti-free market capitalism.

I'm going to be 70 years old before the general election and God willing, I'll live to see the outcome.

But for those of you who have goals and dreams that extend beyond tomorrow morning...unlike me ( who is thankful I wake up each morning)?

You need to wake up too.

BILLIONS of peoples' hopes and dreams across the planet are at risk.

Thanks for your consideration.   :patriot:

I have sworn off engaging in any Trump conversations but will since you put in the time and effort...

:amen:

I would add that aside from Cruz, the other candidates are more worried about their political future and the republican party to do what needs to be done.
They are going to solicit/cajole/beg/plead and when the lefties (both D's and R's) say no, they will shrug and say I tried and go to their next cocktail meeting.
My hope is that Trump or Cruz will fight until they win or get thrown out, otherwise, it will not matter who is in the whitehouse.

I'll respectfully disagree. I've said my peace about why I don't like him on other threads and I'm not one to bite my lip about my opinion. I do see how the momentum is going though and I'm almost at the point of just sitting back and watching it happen like a reality show versus engaging in it.

I, too will respectfully disagree.  I just posted this on another thread, so I'm cutting and pasting here:

I don't dislike Trump; nor do I like him.  I love that he is shaking up the parasitical GOPe and causing the politically correct to have the vapors.  This is a valuable service that he is doing.

However, I don't trust him to do what needs to be done.  He is, by his own often proclaimed admission, a "deal-maker".  I don't think we need a deal maker right now.  We need someone to go into Washington DC and kick butt and take names.  To hell with deal-making.  That's what the GOPe has been doing, much to the detriment of the country.  Partially because the GOPe'ers don't have a vision and ideology that they understand or accept enough to fight for, and because the left's idea of deal making is that the left gets everything they demand.

The initial reason for my statement was a feeling for a need to defend myself.

A couple/few people who appeared around the same time have maintained that all I do is contribute ad hominems and I'm not going to let that ride unchallenged.

Rather than respond in the thread where I'm being impugned and risk shutting down said thread, decided to do it here in my own thread.

People who've 'known' me over the years know full well that I reciprocate in direct proportion to the level of argument delivered to me.

Although I have been disgusted with Democratic leadership and policy for years, it was like a slap in the face...this realization that they are out and out Socialists and Communists.  Like 'Terminators', they NEVER STOP!   It's all they do....tear down our Constitutional Republic and the Bill of Rights.

Allowing unabated..... illegal immigrants to flood across our borders to the South...to the point of providing rail caravans of unaccompanied minor children so that they can take advantage of the Executive Order to later allow their family and relatives is nothing short of sinister.

To allow any Syrian male here without them 'running' a gauntlet of INDEPENDENT officials conducting background checks, etc., is nothing short of treasonous.

They used to summarily execute people for treason where our Republic's security is being threatened.  Today, the media treats them like the guy in the white hat riding the white horse.  The 'good guy'.

We need to WIN this election.  It's mandatory for the welfare of our children and grandchildren.

DC, you need to reacquaint yourself with the story of the Trojan Horse.

Donald Trump is a modern-era Trojan horse. His campaign is designed to fool the masses into thinking he's one of them, then destroying them.

If you want to vote for him, fine. It's your vote. But don't think you are going to stop this country's descent into the pooper. That will continue regardless.

Take a look at the polls. Trump is currently polling around 30%—and that's out of Republicans! And we're not talking about the other 70% of the party thinking he's a good guy, just not their guy. (Addendum: that more fit Scott Walker, my original preference.) No. Anyone who isn't for Trump outright hates him, and for good reason. He will say just about anything to get to the top. He has no integrity, no consistency, no predictability. It's a great asset in politics where you need to dodge attacks, but it makes for terrible leadership.

I almost wish Trump would win to watch the reaction of his sycophants to his actions as president.  I am certain he would be much more liberal than they think.  I suspect for two years they would be in denial then they would slowly, reluctantly, angrily turn on first Trump and then on each other.

Thanks DC.  I completely understand why you wrote this.  Like some others, I have pulled back some from posting because I am tired of the arguments and the same tired insults over and over.  I would happily vote for Trump if he is our nominee - happily to watch him make the establishment go crazy!  Yes, I hate them that much.

Sanguine, there's nothing to be afraid of a self-proclaimed "deal-maker", IMO.  It doesn't necessarily translate that he'll work with them every time.

Furthermore, Trump's never made a "deal" where it wasn't good for him or his companies.

Look at the glass as half-full....not half-empty.

As far as polls conducted a year out from the election?  They don't mean much to me right now.

Why do you insist that anybody that is intrigued by Donald Trump at this time, a "sycophant".

IMO, that word better describes the cabal you're involved in.  Those unable or unwilling to firmly endorse a candidate...instead making it their mission to continue to track sh*t on our carpets and pee on the toilet seat in their zeal to impugn others.
