Marine killed, 9 hurt in helicopter crash
Camp Lejeune in mourning as investigators seek answers

One Marine was killed and 9 injured in a helicopter crash.

One Marine was killed and nine others injured in what investigators say was a hard helicopter landing during a training mission at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

The names of the involved Marines weren’t immediately released.

NBC News reported the Marines were aboard a CH-53E Super Stallion chopper and were attempting a landing around 9 p.m. Wednesday. The U.S. Marine Corps released information about the incident Thursday, including the fact one of the nine injured is considered in serious condition.

Capt. Kendra Motz told NBC News the crash is under investigation.

Just a few months ago. a Marine was killed and 22 hurt when the helicopter they were riding in crashed at Bellows Air Force Base in Hawaii. And just Wednesday, a Black Hawk helicopter crashed during a hard landing during a military training exercise in Fort Carson, Colorado, though nobody was hurt in that incident.
