Ex-Clinton aide expected to plead the Fifth before House panel

By Mark Hensch

A staffer who worked on Hillary Clinton’s private email server while she was secretary of State is expected to plead the Fifth rather than testify before Congress.

Lawyers for Bryan Pagliano indicated the former IT employee will assert his constitutional right under the Fifth Amendment not to appear before the House Select Committee on Benghazi, citing the "current political environment."

Pagliano was scheduled to appear before the House Benghazi Committee on Sept. 10.

Rep. Elijah Cummings (D-Md.), the ranking Democrat on the panel, said in a statement that the panel's investigation of Clinton’s private email server while at State is politically motivated, given her presidential candidacy.

“Their insatiable desire to derail Secretary Clinton’s presidential campaign at all costs has real consequences for any serious congressional effort,” said Cummings, ranking member on the Benghazi Committee.

Clinton is under fire for her use of a personal email server during her tenure as secretary of State.

Voter concerns over Clinton’s personal storage device are gradually eroding her support across multiple national polls.

So what does the "current political environment" have to do with simply telling the truth?  Unless, of course, telling the truth would possibly send you to the federal pen!

Clinton aide says he doesn’t know what 'wiped' server means

By Bradford Richardson

Hillary Clinton’s press secretary says he doesn’t know what the word “wiped” means in reference to his boss’s private email server.

“I don’t know what ‘wiped’ means,” Brian Fallon told CNN’s Brianna Keilar on Thursday in response to whether the server Clinton handed over to the FBI was “wiped.”

“There’s been no — I don’t know what ‘wiped’ means, literally the emails were deleted off of the server, that’s true,” he repeated later in the interview.

Clinton, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, previously joked that she also did not understand the word in that context.

“Like with a cloth or something?” Clinton replied at an August press conference when asked whether she “wiped her server.”

The Republican National Committee mocked the claim by selling server “wipes” on their website store.

Bryan Pagliano, an ex-Clinton staffer who managed the former secretary of State’s private email server, sent a letter to Congress on Monday saying he would plead the Fifth if forced to testify before the House Select Committee on Benghazi.

Pagliano is scheduled to appear before the House Benghazi Committee on Sept. 10.

The FBI launched an investigation into a private email server Clinton used during her time as secretary of State, which many perceive as a threat to national security.

A review of thousands of pages of emails that Clinton received and wrote found several that had lines blacked out by the State Department, indicating that they contained classified material, according to a report on Wednesday.

Too bad for him then because under the law he has to testify if given immunity.
