Everyone hates Bill de Blasio.
A majority of New Yorkers don't want to see him get a second term. White voters hate him. Latinos are angry because he didn't appoint enough Latinos to city offices. Even the horse-haters of the Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages which bought him his job is protesting him because he promised to get rid of Central Park's horses in his first week in office... and hasn't done it yet.
Some types of crime are rising. Bill de Blasio is constantly late everywhere. His grandiose projects are a disaster. He forcibly dumped homeless shelters into neighborhoods without warning. The list is endless. So obviously New York's left-wing mayor is blaming "wealthy interests".
Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a radio interview today that he agreed that wealthy interests are driving negative news coverage of his administration, but argued New Yorkers would not allow that to impact their vote come 2017.
“I think you’re right, that there is always misinformation,” Mr. de Blasio said, adding that he was not worried about headlines trumpeting everything from increased shootings to rampant homelessness to nearly-naked women in Times Square affecting his re-election chances. “I think the people are smart. I don’t think they’re buying the hype. I think if they see things changing in their own lives, that’s how you are polled.”
They're seeing those changes in their own lives alright. And they want those changes gone.
But maybe this is the kind of wealthy interest that Bill de Blasio means?
One of the nation’s wealthiest black business leaders is considering mounting a self-financed campaign to topple Mayor Bill de Blasio in 2017 — saying he has lost faith in the candidate he once supported.
“I’m giving serious thought to running for mayor of New York City . . . I was a political supporter of Bill de Blasio,” real estate mogul Don Peebles told The Post on Tuesday.
“He’s anti-business, he’s anti-wealth, he’s anti-accomplishment. His performance has not been up to par. He’s failed.”
Describing himself as a “pro-business” Democrat, Peebles described de Blasio as a divisive “socialist” who wants to punish wealthy people with higher taxes.
“My approach is to expand opportunity by increasing the size of the pie, not taking away from others. The mayor is supposed to be the mayor of all the people, not be the mayor of the Socialist Party.”
He slammed de Blasio on numerous fronts, from his management skills to his chat with his son, Dante, about how to act if approached by cops.
“That was disrespectful,” Peebles said. “What he should have been saying is that the NYPD is the best police department in the country.”
So it must be one of those vast rich black conspiracies.
